Nancy Reagan also had undue influence. neither Bush nor Nancy Reagan had won the race against Carter, his "affable" persona helped Reagan. Not so sure that Bush would have won (never mind the secret agreement with the mullahs to hold back the hostages until after the election).

  7. 2:26 The wave of hand - I think the teleprompter did not function or they were not in sync with him, and he could not improvise *. - I guess we can kidnapp Sanders at 3 am from his bed and he would lecture the audience about the specifics of his plans (wild hair and all). * Obama also did not well when he lost the support of the teleprompter (which happened at least once). I suppose someone else had written the speech, he had not prepared much for the delivery. But then - he was BUSY. What had Biden to do in the last week ?  the Meet online with the donors ? he can delegate that. Someone else will run the show if Biden gets elected, no need to miss out on his naps. And this was a CRUCIAL speech, given that Biden NOW would have to make the case he could be president and sort out things in 2021. After all the economic shock will still be in the system, even if by then a vaccine would be available and people could be in public again.
