don't you think they'll come around once they experience good healthcare and the blue collar jobs of the Green New Deal ? that ripples through the economy, even if THEY do not work on solar (not so likely in NYC). But Insulation might be a niche.

free stuff is only O.K. for the oligarchs (or in form of subsidies to Amazon, the oil industry, farmers, bailout for banksters, and on top of that QE to the tune of trillions. Not to forget corporate welfare for the weapons manufacturers and the surveiallance industry).

Have you heard of the Epi Pen and the price gouging ? that was developed for the Gulf War in 1991.

Noam Chomsky: the role of the military is understood (only a short clip, a LOT of basic research is done under cover of "military spending". Chomsky was active as professor at MIT. The industries of the decade hang out nearby, to hold friendly contact with the researcher. Chomsky: in my time the MIT was 90 % military funded. It was electronics, when he answered the question it was pharma, I gues now it is also about AI.

also the youtube channel of Current Affairs: Capitalism did not create the iPhone you iMbecile. (Plus a video about the advantages of single payer system, and one about socialism not being bad - the last one I have not yet seen). Short vids (5 - 10 minutes), informative and even entertaining, highly recommended.

Her collegues must be so jealous. Dialing after dollars is very unpopular, but they must do it. Fancy dinners and getting invited to lunch by a lobbyist might be fun but not the telephone calls. Representatives are not allowed to make these calls in the House, so the parties have rented office buildings, they all walk there during midday when it is easier to reach the donors. The donations are public record, so if someone gave a large sume to the Republicans the Democrats will call the donor as well, and there is a reasonable chance they might get at least a part of that. As Trump said during the debates in 2015 / 2016: they call and I give, but when I need something I know where to call. The aides have the lists and the notes about personal details of the potential donor, and they keep their bosses on track with the unpleasant task. (talk about call center with unsolicited sales calls). They have displays where you all can see who is on track and who is the fundraiser of the month (again like a sales team or a multilevel marketing org). They must also fundraise for the party, not only for their own campaigns. They have to pay rent to the party for the privilege of using those "cubicles of sweat" - likely completely overpriced. (A Republican that left Congress gave some insider info). I wonder if AOC gives something of her donations to the party as well. One of the reasons why Sanders remained an Independent: that way he did not have to support the party financially. Allegedly it takes up 20 - 30 (or even 40) % of their time to chase the donations. That is why they like bundlers and Superpacs. That way they have to suck up to fewer people.

She always comes prepared to the hearings, and no grandstanding either, right for the facts.

She won the last primary with a team of ten and countless hours of knocking on doors. But then she was in NYC all the time not 4 - 5 days per week in D.C. It is not beyond the Democratic establishment to try and run someone against her in the primaries (Crowley could go on for 16 years w/o many challenges) and the Republicans will run someone as well. A well filled war chest at hand for ads and to hire people helps in case big biz and donors start throwing money around. I think the rules also allow her to support other candidates (not sure about that).
