  18. More than enough "labour" MPs wanted Corbyn to badly lose an election and actively worked on it (see GE 2017, not sure about this time). But now the vultures assemble, and they do not mind to damage the party - at least in the short run. In 2017 (when they had recovered from the relatively good result in the 2017 snap election) and in 2018 they were pulling PR stunts whenver the party polled well. It was like a clockwork: Tying the Tories in the polls, another tempest in the teacup. At that time they (and all other enemies of a left party) had figured out that "antisemitism" worked best. It was never about the policies that would improve the lifes of the regular people. Corporate media went along with that (like in the U.S. where the "liberal" media colludes with the party establishment. They have blackout on Sanders, but also on Yang, Gabbard). Pulling stunts becae very obvious BEFORE the hacks of the Independent Group broke away in 2018 (no doubt they had a backup plan provided by some special interests to compensate them for the risk they were taking to lose their seat). That attempt to prop them up so they could split the vote in a soon to come election failed. On the flip side: they have purged themselves out from Labour - Corbyn could not get rid of them because they had been so long in the party and had of course the establishment support (and that of finance, the Israeli lobby, weapons manufacturers, ...) MPs are supposed to serve their constituency. Not leverage their seat (as long as they have it and in exchange for late favors) in order to split the vote so that the Tories can win. The constituents that had voted for a Labour MP did not want that MP to promote a Tory win in the next GE (and in 2018 and 2019 everyone was waiting for the next snap election to be called). They wanted the Tories to win if that would help to unseat a party leader that does not suit the war mongers, Friends of Israel, surveillance state and all multinationals that dodge paying taxes. .

  20. + James Neoliberal fallout: Great Financial Crisis anyone ? Allowing tax dodging. passing the laws that suit Big Finance. Leaving the citizens to the mercy of the landlord class. The government has access to very cheap money if they want (zero % interest if they want) and not in form of loans or bonds (which must be paid back) but to create money directly. Debt and Interest Free Money (see Dr. Richard Werner or Dr. Stephanie Kelton). It was done for the Banks in form of QE for the banks - but that could of course also have been done for common good projects like social housing, education or healthcare (it is especially suited because it provides a lot of value for the population resp. reduces their costs of living, provides jobs, and the expenditures are for resources that a country usually can provide, workforce, construction materials). But of course the neoliberals like the Blairites serve Big Finance and the landlord class - so that idea is hardly talked about. Historically (because of the resistance of Big Finance) the concept is used in times of crisis or big challenges only. The Bradbury Pound during WW1 for instance. Now it is called QE for the People, MMT, Sovereign Money (positivemoney(dot)com). With the internet the information about it could be spread, the gatekeepers of information now can be circumvented. Books are only read by so many people - and there was no chance books about these concepts (they are not new) would ever be hyped by the media, or reviewed by major print outlets. Unorthodox economists survived in their niches until the GFC shook the system to it's core - so new ideas (MMT) were at least discussed, and found a little bit of attention. Rent is a major part of the budget of low income people. covert privatization. the allegedly left or liberal politicians siding with Big Biz, Big Finance, real estate developers and undermining the rights of workers. Not only Blair played that role : also Bill Clinton in the U.S. and Gerhard Schroeder in Germany. Citizens were subject to the media propaganda of the "new and modern globalized financialized" economy, and those who lose are not mentioned - or only in passing. - and then back to reporting on the stock exchange. NAFTA cost millions of jobs in the U.S.. And the Chinese tariff agreement since 2000 again cost even more million of jobs (at least hundred thousand companies closed in the U.S. mostly manufacturing plants. I do not recall the exact number but I am sure it was more then 100,000). It was not much talked about in the U.S. media. At some point the regular citizens figured out that neoliberal economics and the McJobs economy does not work - for them. Then there were wake-up calls that the elites were not to be trusted: the Iraq war. the war against Afghanistan was prepared in SUMMER 2001, 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden was a pretext, U.S. Nato is there since 2001. Then Libya. and Syria.

  34.  @ptbot3294  So BoJo can either do a Brexit In Name Only (and explain that to the ardent Leavers and "Brexit means Brexit" and "we take our country back" crowd. Or it would be the feared Hard brexit. - I think the Corporations have put their foot down. it is all fun and games when he campaigned Leave (but never expected or WANTED to win. Watch the footage of BoJo the morning after. He was not a happy camper). It was as a way to later challenge Cameron as party leader /PM. Johnson would give it a good fight, ramp up his anti migration and right wing street creds and honorably lose. That solved 3 problems: 1) he could prove to the party establishment (especially with losing narrowly !) that he could reach and activate voters that were not so responsive to generic Tory Cameron. In other words: he was better in winning a GE 2) He could tell the riled up Leave voters: sorry we have to accept the referendum - but vote for me and I continue to be anti immigration and a rightwing eccentric (fake) populist. 3) The people that always vote Tory and the business community that wanted to Remain would not oppose him either. The referendum had served its purpose (propping up BoJo) and settled the question of Leave. So Cameron could not use that against BoJo in a contest. Nope, no "taking back our freedom" with the BoJo Brexit: Freedom of movement, fisheries unchanged , the EU court rulinhs apply, the payments to be associated with the club. All of that - but without having a say in the club.

  43. So... the NEC appeased the Friends of Israel, other lobby groups and the Blairites. And OF COURSE the Blairites WILL ASSIST the TORIES further in the "anti-semitism" circus. this is about MAKING LABOUR LOSE the NEXT GE **. Avoiding to talk about the economic issues (which are against the neoliberal agenda and the City of London does not like the idea of Corbyn being PM either) ** I recommend BBC: Labour: The Summer that changed everything youtube.com/watch?v=sWnIpHAHaaE&t=1877s go to 30 : 00 The BBC accompagnied 4 MPs (no fans of Corbyn) during the campaign for the snap election in June 2017. So their reaction for the first accouncement on TV at 10 pm is recorded. ....one could assume they would have been pleasantly surprised..... Go watch it. Hint: one of them reacted as to be expected. Broke into a wide smile once he realized that a hung parliament was a possibility and the Tories had done worse and Labour much better than expected. Stephen Kinnock could not muster a smile, not immediately and not later (not even a fake one). Lucy Powell sprung into busy mode - loud utterances of surprise, doing calculations about majorities, and speculations about May stepping down - but also no signs of JOY (if only for fellow MPs that would keep their seat). The only good thing: the NEC was elected with a crowd that is supportive of Corbyn - all 9 of them. They can now pass the rules to make the party more responsive to the base - and have mandatory reselection. Someone should run against this neoliberal shill.
