But they kicked him out as soon as he had recovred and could retun. The medal he was awarded was handed out with his papers (no ceremony or anything). The higher ups and politics colluded with the corrupt police. You can improve a crime situation over time. Imprison, rehabilitate criminals. Undermine organized crime, go after the big fish, and offer the small fish a chance to rehabilitation. Same for drug addicts (see the model of Portugal). But there is no remedy if POLICE are the thugs, the criminal gang - that is de facto above the law.That can murder, harm and seize assets with impunity. That are never held to account for highly unprofessional reckless trigger happy behavior.

I read a comment that cops often take cocain and seize some when doing raids. - First: in any other rich countty cops and civil servants are not allowed to have a side hustle. 40 hours, some overtime maybe, night shifts, and stress - they are expected to show up well rested. And it would be a conflict of interest.

Chauvin worked MORE nightshifts in the nightclub (additionally to his main job with the police). Which is a drain. Cocaine boosts energy, so it can be used to cope, and even more so if they have a side hustle - it does not always lead to addiction (not even heroin does). BUT: it makes people more aggressive, brazen even reckless etc. That would explain some of the trigger happy, completely idiotic "shoot first, assess situation later" incidents. Where they easily could have approached with caution and then would not have killed an 11 year old boy alone in a park, or a white woman in a nice neighbourhood in a robe and pajamas which had called the police and approached them to greet them. Idiocy could be a reason (cowardice does not suffice because they RUSH into these situations guns blazing). Or behavior that is affected and common sense that is undermined by ongoing drug abuse. The police unions made sure drug tests must be announded 2 - 3 days in advance. Cops can clear it out of the system in that time.

The night club owner said the members of police she hired were always skittish when they had to deal with people of color - unlike the other securities 1) Running her mouth ? she hired them nontheless and for a long time. 2) the restaurants and clubs MUST hire some members of the police, or they will not come when they call them * = a protection racket And she was not really happy with that, but had to hire them to protect her business. Like I said I do not think any other first world country even allows that conflict of interest.

And Cuoma is ONE of those who fix the economic status quo. it is not only about race, it is class / poverty. And white people (if low income) are also abused. They may have an edge over the minorities but they are not faring much better.
