@telmobrito519 Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in 2005, physically forcing its settlers to evacuate. Gazans responded by electing Hamas, a party that has eradication of jews and Israel in their charter, and who has since invested in exactly that instead of in infrastructure and good governance for its citizens. If Gazans stopped terrorizing Israel, they'd be free to create a prosperous coastal city state.

Dude, should Gazans have "the right to develop self defense forces" when their ruling party is fully committed to the genocide of Israel and invest hugely in e.g. rockets to target Israeli civilians already today? If they are given "the right to develop self defense forces", next terror attack won't stop at 1000 slaughtered Israeli civilians. It will be 10,000 or 100,000 or as many as they can get at.

@telmobrito519 that Israel controls most of the land crossings isn't that strange, is it, considering the geography? You could say Spain controls all of Portugal's land crossings. So what? Why do you think Gaza remains dependent on Israel for water, electricity, telecommunications and other utilities? Because Hamas invests in terror and corruption instead of the good governance that would make their economy prosper and thus make them able to build and maintain the facilities that would make them self-reliant in these areas. How is Israel bad for having supplied electricity, water and telecom for decades? If Israel controls the Palestinian population registry, I guess the Palestinians haven't matured their governance enough to do it themselves. If Israel controls the airspace and maritime space, isn't that to curb Hamas terror investments somewhat? If Gaza stopped being hellbent on the destruction of Israel, why then would Israel want to hinder Gazan development and commerce in any way? Do you think Israel does what it does for some kind of sadistic pleasure? It withdrew from Gaza for peace. Gaza could easily be one of many incredibly prosperous city states but THEY have to focus on that then.
