Zelensky stated 31k dead almost two months ago. Probably 34k now, plus 6x the number of wounded, for a total of over 200k.

Is this your way of coping with the 3 day SMO fiasco?
93
Why would the ball be in Russia's court? They can play defense, that's all.
81
The Russian propaganda is a firehose of ... truth, let's say. Very credible.
48
Sevastopol is heavily defended. What air defense doing?
43
@niccolobrioschi3758 remember the US could see the video feeds from with the Russian government and had access to Russian plans. Everything with the SMO indicates Russia expected and planned for a very swift victory. I know you captives of Russian propaganda tells each other otherwise using various excuses, but fact remains: Russia thought it could storm Kiev and occupy it.
42
The catch is that you see cherry-picked info designed to give the impression of Ukrainian failure and Russian success. Ukrainians are largely in silent mode and Russia shows favorable stuff only (and is known to lie and exaggerate). The fog of war won't clear for days or weeks. But one thing Ukraine still publishes are estimates of Russian losses, and they're unusually high: Russia yesterday lost 1010 men, 10 tanks, 24 APVs, 34 artillery pieces and 4 MLRS, 4 AA, 26 other vehicles and 2 special equipment. Both sides will take significant casualties. Whether Ukraine will reach strategic objectives remains to be seen. Reporting such as this is neither here nor there.
31
@ukuskota4106 The leaked docs say: Up to 43,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in action, with an estimated total casualty count between 189,500-223,000. That compares with the up to 17,500 Ukrainian soldiers killed in action and 124,500-131,000 casualties. Then there's an early doctored Russian version that says otherwise.
25
@Pythoner "Russia never tried to capture Kiev at all" I've seen you tell this lies several times before. You never tire of yourself? "Afterwards they barely captured anything. Not because they couldn't, but because they realized that destroying enemy manpower while preserving their own men is the greater priority." Yeah, keep coping.
23
Keep crying.
23
@sonaruo perhaps you should google e.g. "difference between volunteer and mercenary" before making such a statement? If you did, you wouldn't lose face. Simply put, a foreign volunteer enlists in a regular army, is part of that army's chain of command, and get regular pay. However, a mercenary is usually paid higher salaries and will not have enlisted in the regular armed forces and won't be part of a regular chain of command. Thus foreign volunteers are afforded Geneva convention protections and are combattants that if captured shall be treated as POWs. This does not apply to mercenaries. The reason Russia calls the foreign volunteers in Ukraine "mercenaries" is that Russia wants to incite war crimes among its soldiers and wants to scare people to not volunteer, because they essentially say "we will routinely commit war crimes, refuse to honor the geneva convention and simply execute you if we capture you, so don't come here".
17
Ukraine doesn't use mercenaries. That's Russia.
16
@deadpoetlive Russia did say it. Russian state TV was extremely cocky. The internet never forgets.
14
@ТолмачевЛеонид that's right. It's just the typical lazy reality inversion of Russian propaganda. Russia's lancets are too weak, so they just mirror it and claim Ukraine's anti-armor shots are too weak. I've seen extreme amounts of Russian armor destroyed and the explosions are almost always unsurvivable.
14
And Prigozhin, right?
14
@zuyrie "Yes its soo tragics, but for Russian they fought for security of their motherland. But for Ukraine they only fought for US and western allies interest." Dude, get a grip. Ukraine is fighting for its existence and independence. Russia is fighting for the prestige of Putin.
14
@miladinradovik8474 they HAD a lot of artillery. Now, not so much. Running to North Korea and begging for shells. Getting destroyed on a daily basis by superior Ukrainian counter battery fire. Ukraine now fires more shells per day, with far higher accuracy and lethality.
13
@sonaruo dude, do you think Ukraine has artillery ammo stashed in or close to areas contested by infantry? When the arty range is many miles?
13
Dude, Russia gave up Kherson, even. It can't get close to Odessa.
12
@sergeikhripun "Yeah, Russians are “losing” with ratio of 1 to 10 Ukrainians. Ukraine already lost 500k soldiers KIA." Because so say Donbass Doug and Ritter the Diddler?
12
@alrogast I'm a westerner, and I have a hard time understanding your flip. Don't you see how incredibly forgiving and tolerant the western world is? But during a hot war when you're the new incarnation of nazi germany, essentially, you can't expect us to not block you. Or? What would you do if you were a western politician? Please explain it to me, because I honestly don't get it.
11
@walterbrunswick yes, Russia lost almost immediately.
11
@ИванФурлетов-в5ы "Nobody was going to take Kiev." Keep coping and making excuses.
10
You can dream, rashist, but you can't win.
10
@danielbwest emoji responses, showing off the typical maturity level of captives of Russian propaganda.
9
@ yeah, right, he told the truth up until he "got confused", i.e. started to deviate from ridiculous ru propaganda figures.
9
@chebysh8047 wikipedia: Researcher Dan Ciuriak from C.D. Howe Institute in August 2022 estimates the number of killed Mariupol civilians at 25,000,[418] and an investigation by AP from the end of 2022 gives a number of up to 75,000 killed civilians in Mariupol area alone. AFP says that "a key gap in casualty counts is the lack of information from Russian-occupied places like the port city of Mariupol, where tens of thousands of civilians are believed to have died". The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reports similar issues and believed that the true civilian casualty numbers were significantly higher than it has been able to confirm. Also, the casualty count in Gaza is Hamaz' figures.
9
It wasn't the first time, and Ukraine will just encircle it.
9
Do we need any more evidence to understand who Mearsheimer is serving?
8
@srki8231 if it weren't for the American lend-lease program toward Russia, Russia wouldn't have been able to withstand the German army.
8
They did, and it's the truth. It's just a point of attrition, less mines and Russian prestige. It's not important in itself.
8
@AhmedAdly11 "Mercel, Hollande and the Ukrainian presidents all saying that "they only signed the Minsk agreements (international peace treaties) to buy time to build an army to invade Crimea" was the real clincher." They never said that. It's just Russian propaganda that none of you gullible boys have bothered to fact check.
8
Ukraine has been on the verge of defeat for 2 years according to this channel.
8
@thedustysteambot2462 dude, if Europe gets more grain from Ukraine, Europe won't outbid Africans for some other grain. You don't understand markets, apparently. Exactly who gets oil or grain of whatever from who isn't very important. What's more important is the volumes on the world markets. Constrain total volumes, and the most poor will lose out.
8
@Dan-jl5ej what are you talking about? Most countries would defend, wouldn't they? There has been countless wars and defenders are often more motivated. Why are you surprised this happens a millionth time and ascribe it to Zelensky?
7
@societyreborn33 Mearsheimer isn't a warplanner really, he's a scholar in international relations wedded to a particular simplification of reality (offensive realism). Now he makes statements that magically sees through the fog of war and makes an incredibly premature judgement about the Kursk offensive based on very sketchy onesided Rssian info about how it develops. It repeats his consistent alignment with Rssian prpaganda outlets in this conflict.
7
@pageran4832 the Russian propaganda is effective with the gullible, apparently.
7
NATO is a defensive alliance.
7
Haha, very funny.
6
@chico9805 no, it's not the truth. Russia has suffered disfavorable attrition in all these cases.
6
Headline should be: "Tactics change as the convict cannon fodder of Team "Hitler's Favorite Composer" runs out."
6
Yeah, like the sinking of the Moskva cruiser wasn't a big deal. Keep coping.
6
@alikaraahmet5050 did you read the entire thread before making a fool out of yourself?
6
@carlgustafemilmannerheim9360 well, Ukraine has reported 200 russian tanks and 300 other armored vehicles destroyed in the last 14 days and I have no reason to doubt it.
5
@justsaying2112 he told some truth to prepare for his rebellion. The Ru military has basically continued with meat wave tactics, trading huge amounts of soldiers for tiny advances. Ru has always fought like this.
5
😂 that has to be too dumb even for the guys here who favor Russia.
5
Do you feel the same when Russia does it?
5
How do you know?
5
This is really Ukraine. I understand it's very hard for pro-Russians to admit that Ukraine's war planners and war fighters are far better than Russia's, but it's pathetic to pretend that every setback is due to NATO.
5
@SpeCifiC0507 "Let's not also forget that Ukraine has killed over 5k civilians before the war." Russian propaganda. The UN says there was 3,404 civilian deaths in total, from both Russian and Ukrainian military action, and the VAST majority of that death toll was in 2014-2015 while the hot war raged in Donbass.
