That compares with the up to 17,500 Ukrainian soldiers killed in action and 124,500-131,000 casualties. Then there's an early doctored Russian version that says otherwise.

@Slackware1995 the real US assessment according to original leaked documents is 2:1 casualties Russia:Ukraine by February: Up to 43,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in action, with an estimated total casualty count between 189,500-223,000. That compares with the up to 17,500 Ukrainian soldiers killed in action and 124,500-131,000 casualties. This was doctored by Russia in falsified versions. E.g. they had switched places for the 1 and 7 in Ukrainian deaths to arrive at 71,500. This is typical of the Russian propaganda: Just inject enough of various falsehoods to confuse and gaslight, so nobody knows what's true anymore, nor trusts anything.

@LeadLeftLeon "Ukraine is fixated on territory to minimize the amount of land that goes back to Russia when this ends." No, they're using elastic defense to optimize attrition. If they're holding on to territory for other reasons, it's to avoid having e.g. Kramatorsk in range of Russian terror bombings by ordinary artillery. "I wonder if Russia will annex Odessa and what's left of the Ukrainian coastline once Ukraine's manpower is depleted." Don't worry, no risk. Ukraine's manpower will never be that depleted. Russia can never cross the Dniepr again.

Great. Can someone point me to a vid where HistoryLegends expose the Russian side in a similar way? Because after all, Ukraine has the excuse of necessity, of being forced to scramble resources to defend against senseless aggression. What excuse does Russia have for its far worse environment? I'm sure HistoryLegends must have spoken about the Russian side with even more sarcasm.

@bulldog6545 that's a good response, but in matters like this, a good sense of relative proportions is crucial for understanding. Any narrative can be spun by cherrypicking a few vids.

@KiopysPlace yes, the Russian feds edited the files to create Russian propaganda versions that claim higher losses for Ukraine and lower for Russia. This is standard modus operandi for Russia: They always want to put out a number of alternate versions and lies out there (they need not be consistent) so that people give up on finding the truth or choose a "truth" that fits with their preconceptions.

@Matt_from_Florida it was proved that those numbers were doctored by Russia. The original leaked documents showed the US assessment is that Russia has approximately double the Ukrainain total casualties (dead + wounded) with an even higher ratio in deaths.

Björn Sjöström "if the west is admitting 7:1 kill ratio than it's probably 15:1" The west wasn't admitting anything, as this was leaked internal intelligence. And the real leaks shows a 2:1 advantage for Ukraine in attrition, 2 russians for each ukrainian.

@Slackware1995 unfortunately not. But you should look up what Alexei Naumov said on Mesto Vstrechi. He brought up the information from the Pentagon leak and admitted the doctoring and that the real figures are more likely. People became upset.
