@zebimicio5204 the atlantic slave trade was 2:1 male-to-female, because hard labor was the purpose. The muslim-arabic slave trade from Eastern Africa was 1:3 male-to-female, because the purpose was overwhelmingly s-x slavery. About 10 million young girls, teens and women were poached in raids from rural communities who experienced a huge population pressure. Of the males that were captured, many were castrated to become eunuchs, and that operation was horrible with low survival rates. This happened over more than a thousand years with consistent scholarly support to cater to the demand for sex slaves from the upper classes. It's easy to do the math and realize the r-pes resulting from this practice was in the billions. It's true that manumission was encouraged in the muslim world, but that also increased the demand for new s-x slaves.

@zebimicio5204 with ten million slaves from that area, the resulting instances of rape would surely be in the billions. 10 million slaves may sound much compared to the population of Africa, yes, but it was a very consistent practice over more than a thousand years, so the annual average poaching was less than 10,000. Releasing slaves doesn't increase slavery per se, but it will obviously create a need to replenish the slave stock from new slaves compared to a situation where slaves are bred, so it increases the pressure on the source populations. Below is a good write-up, and you can probably search on from there for more academic sources: https://newafricanmagazine.com/16616/
