China right now has 4.5x more people that he US in the 20-64 age group. In 2050, the ratio is projected to be 3.3x. In 2075, 1.9x. In 2100, 1.2x.

@chrisrosenkreuz23 demographic inertia is very, very hard to mitigate. Current mothers in China are roughly 10-12 million per cohort year. The next generation of mothers who are now 5-25 year old girls/women are 7-8 million per cohort year. That simply cannot be changed, as those females are already born. And it seems the next generation of females after that will be 5 million per cohort year, which is the case for already born 0-4 year olds.

@chrisrosenkreuz23 it's extremely hard to course correct, and shrinkage is already locked in (the current 0-25 year old females are far fewer than their mothers).

@chrisrosenkreuz23 much of the reduction in China is kindof unavoidable since the population pyramid inverted some 40 years ago.
