  1.  @newguy6935  again, the coal plant is needed as well. Solar can just save fuel when the Sun shines. Solar + batteries upfront costs are much higher than a coal plant's.

  6. But from a first principles perspective, a nuclear plant is very much like a coal plant. So with enough supply chain maturity, nuclear plants should cost like coal plants (but have close to free fuel).

  7. Low penetration solar and wind plants are fairly good at saving fuel in those CCGT plants, aren't they? This extends the era of cheap shale methane. Nuclear doesn't need a breakthrough, it needs less regulation and a determined build program that matures the supply chains a bit.

  9. Doesn't Muskovich have his own pretty mature EV charging network? Subsidizing/forcing more ordinary chargers would help competitors catch up to that advantage of his.
