  1. When I bought my current car, I bought it new and the salesman smiled broadly and asked me how I'd like to finance that. I said "I'm paying cash." His face fell so fast. He would be missing out on a big chunk of finance commission. That was 12 years ago. If I ever need another car (I'm 63) I'll pay cash for that too, but I'll probably buy used.
