  1. I think for many people a hidden cost of buying groceries is simply the waste factor; stuff sitting in the fridge turning to mush than then needs to be thrown out. As a single person I cannot buy fresh produce in the quantities that generate savings so I make sure to buy only the amount that I will actually use. Nicole demonstrated a really good hack there by making her pasta sauce kit and freezing it. If you have a decent sized freezer this is a great thing to do enabling you to buy in quantities that generate savings without the storage waste.
