  1. There also used to be a tool called EXE2BIN which would then strip a lot of the stuff from an .EXE file and generate a .COM file which was much smaller. I don't know if you can still build and run .COM files in Windows. I haven't used Windows on the regular for years but back when I was learning to code in 16bit assembler that was how I made tools that I could add to a 1.44Mb bootable diskette for trouble shooting.
