I saw a part of an interview with Morgan Freeman where he was asked about the "race issue." His response was in essence: How about we just stop calling one another white and black. Just stop describing ourselves and others in these terms and it'll eventually go away. The thing is, he had personally experienced institutionalised racism; something which these people have not. But in order to try to feel a solidarity with those who had, they have to try to characterise themselves as victims rather than just appreciate the benefits that they've been gifted by the people who had to fight for those freedoms.
