I’ve ALWAYS been skeptical of the “sun is bad” thing simply for the fact that every civilization in the history of the universe has considered the sun the source of life on earth 😂

@astromigui that’s the most insane thing - rub cream on your body that often times contains known carcinogens and that will prevent cancer lol

@asnark7115 I mean most civilizations for the entirety of human history until about 200yrs ago…. Maybe read a history book. Or even easier, how long do you think life on earth would continue if the sun disappeared? Or consider the fact that skin cancer was basically non-existent until the Industrial Revolution even tho humans spent most of their lives outside in the sun. Just use a tiny bit of common sense.

Except they’re less well trained and miss important things…. Ask me how I know

@JamasSeguro oh I know humans make mistakes, but less highly trained humans are just less competent at doctoring - the whole thing was to save money, there’s not any benefit for patients other than it’s easier to get an appt

@JamasSeguro well I totally agree with that - one of my good friends is an FNP and is better than most GP doctors so I don’t disagree that a motivated, caring person can be good with either level of training but I’ve seen too many NPs that simply don’t have the depth of training to properly evaluate anything more complex than the most common chronic conditions. I’ve worked in hospitals and primary care environments for the last decade so have a fair bit of exposure but you’re right, it comes down to the individual. I’d rather have an intelligent NP that cares than the average MD i just haven’t seen enough to think they are that common I suppose. Plus the medical system is so broken is really doesn’t reward people who care and want to go the extra mile so they’re all disincentivized to be exceptional.

@aieahi1 I’ve gotten sunburned me whole life, I’m a white dude - when I switched to carnivore diet I got dark brown tanned for the first time ever and it takes hours of direct sun to get anywhere near burned. Never expected that to happen and never even heard of it happening until it happened to me but it absolutely happened. Seed oils or something, not sure of the cause but cutting out everything but meat and fruit totally changed it.

@purplelove3666 oh calm down zealot… did you even read what I said? That past civilizations have regarded the sun as giving life? Assume God controls the world - he uses the sun to give life to things on earth. Sheesh

@penyarol83 suppressed emotions is causing cancer more than poor diet and toxins? Get outta here. Plenty of very well adjusted, happy people get cancer and that might be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard in a while. And I never said baking in the sun was good, I said the idea that we need to smear chemicals on our skin every day to protect against the smallest bit of sun exposure is the only thing more ridiculous than repressed emotions causing cancer.

@yesher12 lmao exactly… forgot about the ozone thing lol

I’ve been saying this for years about sunscreen - rubbing chemicals on your face to prevent skin cancer when all of humanity has lived in the sun since the beginning of time when skin cancer wasn’t an issue doesn’t pass the most basic sniff test.
