  2. Yeah people end up in that situation for all kinds of reasons - I worked prostitution as a cop so got a front row view of how it went. Lots of them were sexually abused as kids and just broken, some were 14-15-16yr old that were in abusive homes and ended up with a “boyfriend” that would sell them and was really just their pimp, some were brought up in really nice families and just had a rebellious streak - the thing most had in common was addiction, mostly crack where I worked. Once they’re addicted they end up stuck in a cycle of needing to turn tricks to make enough money to buy a rock and their next meal. Very high end prostitutes may be normal women that are just making a ton of money - street workers are rarely their voluntarily and they just end up there thru a combination of bad luck, becoming victims as children and making a few bad choices. Most people wouldn’t believe it but working that job really humanized them to me and made me realize just how rough it is and how it’s so hard to get out once you end up in that situation.
