@slipknnnot the anti-gun crowd won't even let you mention the relative scale like you have when that's obviously an important fact and would be taken into account in any other topic...

at least you admit that guns being a "right" has nothing to do with the gun violence issue.... other than preventing politicians from enacting laws that only affect law abiding gun owners of course.

Watching police totally botch the response (this from a former cop in Texas) is just one more reason that the "normal people don't need guns, you can call the cops" is just a dead argument that we all need to accept is wrong headed and not realistic.

Sam... This isn't political and I'm not being partisan.. but I've known how incompetent Trump is from the beginning and his administration is botching the entire thing. We have a president who thinks a pandemic team is optional. Actually the people on the pandemic team stayed at the WH, fake news that they were all fired. The federal response is a function of the SYSTEM largely, a system that has been burdened with so much bureaucracy over the last 60 years. But go ahead and not mention any of that and blame it all on Trump while acting like you're not a partisan. It cheapens ur entire talk. I'm sure you have disdain for someone with my viewpoint but you don't have to make it clear that you think half the country are morons for voting for Trump.

I think the media has distorted everyone's perception of where gun homicides rank in terms of things that are prematurely causing deaths.... Every life in important, but perspective is apparently needed to stop the total insanity that the country devolves into every time this happens. Diabetes Type 2 - 100% preventable/reversible with diet and exercise. Killed 1.4 MILLION people in 2019. Gun homicides - 13,000, the vast majority of which are related to gang/drug activity. Rifles cause a few hundred of those. The problem is CULTURE and it's not the gun culture. It's not the presence or absence of guns. This is why other countries can have guns in every home and not have school shootings. The problem is the failure of parents, failure of schools and almost celebration of every shooting by the system of media, social media and politicians.

making the gun dealer's name known and having them "feel bad" is a horrible idea.. somehow they're supposed to interrogate everyone they sell a gun to and, as you've both admitted, try to catch all the seemingly normal people that end up carrying out these shootings? That suggestion really makes no sense and only tries to place some sense of responsibility on the guy working at Academy that sells a gun for what may happen with that gun sometime in the future? Ridiculous
