A private company can MOSTLY do what it wants… but none of them would be censoring and propagandizing if it wasn’t for the govt colluding with them. Which is where, if we had a legitimate federal law enforcement apparatus, they would be prosecuting everyone in the govt involved in the Twitter files and making an example out of them for a civil rights violations.

@fiorella1021 it really is crazy how many people talk shit about Elon as if they have even the faintest idea what it’s like to be in that position where ur almost single-handedly taking on an entire foreign govt. The forces at play are things normal people can’t possibly be informed on. The guy has taken some massive blows in trying to do the right thing in the place - I’m not holding this one against him. He’s still just a human and expecting him to be perfect is stoopid. Now if he has the same fight with our own govt I’ll hold it against him if he folds lol

It also has the benefit of meaning ur doing the right thing 99.9% of the time even if you know nothing other than doing the opposite of what the govt tells you to do

@ledaswan5990 if u think Elon does whatever makes him money then you haven’t been paying attention very well - he could’ve used that $44B in lots of other places and made way more money than buying Twitter. He did that on principle. Clearly.

@alexeydolzhenkov7424 Russia is a dictatorship run by someone with a sense of morals and principles, a lot of which I agree with… the other is a “Democracy” run by an admin state that has no morals and is willing to break every law to crush dissent. I’d rather live in Russia.

@koohanpaik-mander7567 were you around in the 90s/early 2000s? The internet was the Wild West and awesome and the deep state hadn’t figured out how to use it to control anything.
