So you can make a math problem that makes mpg seem unintuitive... I've seen more than a few people from australia gripe about l/km stuff so I'm guessing they don't like it that much. We have a lot of weird measures but mpg isn't one of them... It works just fine and there's no weird math involved. Plus it's way faster to tell how far you can go with a given amount of gas in your tank which is a very practical thing to need to know.

@AppleSauceGamingChannel I guess because the main calculation one would do in their head is 'how far can I go on X gals of gas' and having a mpg number is the easieat way to figure that out... I pump 5 gals and I know I get 20mpg then I can go 100 miles. Whereas if I pump 5gals and I know it takes 0.2 gpm then the math is much less straightforward. I mean obviously either way will get you there but mpg will always be whole numbers and gpm will always be factions or decimals.
