Simple answer? Leftists love criminals. They're the same in the US, always trying to let criminals off easy and always trying to persecute law abiding people. They're the same no matter what county or decade.

Sorry but a legal system where men consistently are more likely to get jail time than women for the same offences and more likely to get longer sentences than women for the same crimes isn't responsible for keeping women down.
