before watching the video: I launch my race car in 2nd because 1st is totally obsolete. It also gains me like a metre or 2 every time because by the time they shift from first to second. On the race track 1st is way too short, at least with my gearbox and final drive. But that's also because my racecar has a lot of torque throughout the rev range. I wouldn't launch a spec miata from second.
