  2. oh god even mercedes has ipad*s* sticking out of the dashboard now? it might have a lot of luxurious technology but it doesn't have interior design. Exterior is a bit.... anonymous, but other than the ipads and the slightly too anonymous exterior this is an amazing car. Wheel looks great, would be as in place in the SLS AMG as well.

  4. Also man, I remember this vividly, accident waiting to happen. I was towing my race car with my camper van, doing like 85 km/h, driving along A VERY LONG on-ramp from a gas station. Car on the on ramp, I left them plenty of space (because duh, car should easily be going faster). What happens? Brake lights come on(like, SHE HAD THE SPACE!!!!), at the end of the onramp the old lady stops, opens the fucking door and sticks her head out into traffic to watch for a gap. I shit you not that lady is going to get someone killed and be all like "But I wasn't going fast, I wasn't dangerous".

  6. I had a blue one for 7 years, wanted a T sport since those chassis are from Japan and not France (which rust more). Cracking little cars, real fun in the twisties although to my taste I'd like the rear to be a tad more loose. Nah man, turning circle on these was horrible. This car is why I now always park in rearwards. I now have a Ford Mondeo wagon and that turns shorter than the yaris 😂 Steering feel was pretty good though. Also love how the rear seats are on rails like in a twingo, so you can slide the entire rear bench forwards or rearwards depending on if you were driving people or doing groceries. Speedo on the KM/H land ones goes to 200 km/h so just over 120 mph. I've topped mine out at 202 km/h GPS, that was the rev limiter. I bought a TRD leather shift knob to replace the original one, that one fit the hand really nice.

  7. Tungsten always makes me think about darts, you know, the little throwing arrows. 😂 Really posh car, smooth engine AF, and yeah you hold the wheel on those below half way because you're not going to be seen actually steering a rolls. Steering is something the pleb does.

Where does it make peak torque and is there any way besides your ears of knowing where the engine is in the rev range at WOT? How is the torque delivery? I remember from my dad's Alfa 155 Q4 that at 3500 rpm it starts really pressing you into your seat.

  19. Okay seperate from everyting else, this car design wise is a mash up of Opel. Mercedes, and other stuff. Like Genesis at the boot. They have massive brand identity issues with this thing. Also, the Integra always had the engine as a party piece yeah, but it wasn't the only thing that car could do. It could also carve corners like mad. Can this?

  26. Looking at this video, I think the previous gen will absolutely demolish the new one around a twisty track. It's almost as fast as the new one in a straight line and that weight difference will definitely help in the corners.

  33. the Seat dealer here, who is now no longer a Seat dealer (wonder why), was a shady mofo. He "repaired" my bust head gasket without leveling the head, causing the gasket to go bust again (gee). Right when he charged me 100 bucks for a liter of coolant and 2 minutes of looking under the hood is when I walked out and went to an independant local garage that has since serviced all my cars.

  36. with understeer, people keep steering and/or brake. Like, if you are just on the edge of understeer you can generally just lift off the throttle and the nose will bite, or if you're already off throttle (like in mom's shitbox that just wants to go straight), you can open up the steering a tiny bit and feel the tires grip back up.

  51. Really gonna say porsche road car driver experience peaked with this and the 997.2. The 991 only had the pdk, and sure, it's fast and mechanical and all that, but a GT3 to my eyes was always the ultimate sports car on the road. Give the RS the faster gearbox and give the normal one a manual, since the RS is the more hardcore sports focussed.

  70. The EU nose looks better, other than that this thing looks mint AF. Also that V8 is QUIET, especially with only a 3 speed. Looks like the engine characteristic that my T5 mondeo has, just ride a wave of torque and you only ever need to go over 3000 rpm when you are in an emergency. No touch screens is a plus, eyes on the road for longer. The current Ferraris are a nightmare in that aspect 😂

This however was just a dead part. E39 M5 will always remain the daddy of them all to me. The E34 is special too with that bigass straight 6 but the E39 is just like the E46, on that turning point of the century when old met new-ish. And it has that v8.

  106. You don't really need beefy rear brakes in a normal track car really. It's just there to make sure the back end doesn't go all over the place. And damn that demo model looks spot on, very 70-80's color scheme, love it. Thing sounds proper angry too, is that the stock exhaust? Like, are the baffles rattling or did they just bolt an exhaust straight to the floor? And yes, the one thing you have to learn when racing an old fashioned manual is when to just leave it in the taller gear because you'll lose the time you gain and then some by shifting double.

  119. cable throttle to multiple throttle bodies is heavy yeah.... but imo that also makes it easier to dose. My BMW has a cable to 6 intakes, with 12 I imagine it's a bit heavier still but the kick you'd get..... Gorgeous cars. The GT1 versions were quite dominating on the track as well.

Seating position is quite like a 90's nissan primera, ever drove one of those? it's very dull untill you put it on a set of good tires and start chucking it. They're quite good on backroads. Not like an elise but for a dull 4 door saloon very surprising.

  161. The all time favorite has to be the F40, the monster that held the road car lap record at Fiorano till the F430 Scuderia, not the Enzo, came along. From later years the 458 because it's the ultimate culmination of this era of V8 ferrari, it looks great and it has that NA engine that still screams unlike it's uglier but faster younger brother the 488. From simulators I've fallen in love with the F355 challenge cup car though. The thing is so beautifully balanced.

Even if halfway through the first lap the window came down, I was glad I was wearing my full racing kit since I was also tracking my racecar that day 😂

I have 2 problems with this car (not looks wise, it's easily a step up from the E9x series... minus the tail lights): Above all the weight, I checked what an estate of these should weigh and sorry, that's a good 400 kg more than any car in this class has any right weighing. Not gonna lie that's off-putting for me. I have a Mondeo estate, that's +- a 5 series competitor, and my car is 300( !!!!) Kilos (!!!! so 600-700 lbs) lighter than this as an estate. Also the dashboard. I absolutely hate the "gauges". But you touched on that :P You know people like me are out there.

  256. NGL I love the pre-facelift california, the only thing that comes close now is the Portofino. It just has a sense of class that almost no ferrari has had since the 458 spider. The grille isn't too big, the hood is nice and sweeping, the hips are perfectly poised. Only thing that could be better is that it should have come *with a manual*. It's a GT, not a racecar :) Should swap a crashed 550/575's drivetrain into this, give it the V12 it diserves and that manual. Also I'd take the porsche 4.0 because it's a track weapon and I'm a racing driver. Laptime is king and that 4.0 mid engine shreds most other things.

Oh my god modern interiors are absolutely awful 😂 The gauges from a 512, 355 and 550/75 just are great, all the info you need and nothing you don't need, and everything is within reach or quick eye sight. Even the central "gauge cluster" in the roma is filled with all sorts of shit you don't need and the way you operate it.... yeah... Even if I had 10 mil I'd likely just stick to my old ford and buy a GT3 car for going fast. That touch screen nonsense is horrible since you have to get your eyes off the road for a fair bit to confirm what you're doing. Also the touch buttons on the wheel do look like something that is just going to malfunction in certain weather conditions with dry or sweaty hands.

There are real nice specs of them out there (there is a yellow with black spider close to me, really cool car, gets driven all year round too) but in general it's just not as good looking as a 355 is.... If you ask me. They do sound amazing though with that 5 valve engine inherited from the f355. I love that they had nothing on the wheel yet with this. Current ferraris have the whole care operated from the wheel with capacative touch, big yikes if you ask me. Gauge cluster is perfect too. Aren't there some modded out to rev to like 9300?

  301. This is the first pretty mid-ship v8 ferrari since the 355 and the last as well. The 488 is just an uglier version of this. and 125bhp / ltr NA is nothing to sniff at still man. Last good sounding v8 as well before they swapped to a different engine design with a different crankshaft. And wait, you gotta wait for the fuel pump before you can hit the power button? Ha, reliable? I know someone who bought the maserati that has this engine and gearbox and was like "it's fine they use the 458 drivetrain now no problem" and the first 6 months I saw him drive the dealer's peugeot more than the maserati. 😂😂

  302. Honestly I've had 2 used cars and 1 new car. The new car my mom bought in 1998 and started rusting as new, kept doing this till I ditched it in 2012. The 2 used cars Are from 2012 (bought it when it was 10 years old) and 2008 (bought it last year at 12 years old), minus the airco (got screwed by an official brand dealer on that one....)and some minor stuff both run like a champ. The 2008 one has a few pits of rust in the roof from little stones on the highway, the 2002 one had rust on the bonnet from a stone as well. On the 1998 "new" car I've had to replace the drive shafts TWICE in 6 years, not even on my RACECAR do the shafts go that quick. So, it depends on the car you buy really :)

He didn't treat it how it should've been treated (brought it to a garage that to his face said he didn't want it), so yeah, his has a history of NOT running. I remember driving that thing though, it drives GREAT. Grip is a thing. Snow on flat 215 wide summer tires? No problem. These cars will outcorner a LOT.

One complaint is the steering wheel, it doesn't look posh to me. Other than that I wish that if you really opened up the taps you'd hear the v8 a bit more. Exterior is hit and miss for me, I prefer the old arnage.

It's a damn spaceship. v8 ferrari design had a highlight with the 355 (challenge) and had it's peak with the 458. Everything since has just been less pretty than the 355 and less pretty than the 458 respectively. Also we have widely different taste, to me the 488 pista is an uglier version of an uglier 458 😂 Also yes the 458's steering isn't the best they ever did, but I'm just talking with my eyes here.

It's more of a slippery beasty to go real fast. Very eager to rev but it doesn't rev all that high. Smoothness of the straight 6 but it's probably got a long stroke?

I will sometimes buy a cpu for 100 euro more but that will have an advantage to me, or I might buy ram for 50 less cause it's the price / performance sweet spot. On that note, RAM is indeed what a lot of people just waste money on. I used to mod for a gaming streamer, and he just chucked the thickest RAM into his build cause it had the highest speed rating. Wasn't even compatible with his system board so he got more frames clocking that ram to slower than what it could do.

On the race track 1st is way too short, at least with my gearbox and final drive. But that's also because my racecar has a lot of torque throughout the rev range.   425. NGL, for the price difference, the performance in gaming is key to most users, it's the multitasking and encoding where heavier users will still choose a 2080 over it. For me? I'm torn between buying a new motherboard, RAM and cpu next year, or a 3070, cause I've got a 1070ti and I feel that card is definitely still up to snuff.

  426. I remember swapping out the cat on my first racecar, most we won was mid range torque, like between 3500 and 5500 rpm the engine was a ton faster. Of course we made a bit more peak power but mid range torque was the biggest improvement on an old BMW E30 325. In figures it's nothing special as your bank runs showed, but in driving feel it made a huge difference.

  429. Man this thing loses out to a 355 on the sound department. These twin turbo ferrari v8's in general just don't sound as good as the NA ones. The car is stupid fast anyway, rather have something a little slower but with much more of the drama.

  430. I've honestly been pulled over ONCE. In a 40 horsepower Panda. Never in any car with an actual engine, and I don't drive like a granny. (Trust me, I've taken several cars to speeds that their speedo doesn't even show, but nobody else around for miles) Not driving like an asshole is indeed a big part of my driving style. I don't tailgate, I don't endanger other people, I basically just chill, except that every now and then I overtake some people.

  431. NGL mate I've got a looooooooooooooooong history of multiplayer gaming, from my teenage years till now well into my adult life, a lot of girls and women on my teams or opposing teams and they're just chill, nobody made a problem of it.

  433. Thing I hate most is that damn ipad that just does not fit the interior styling in what way soever. Actual gauges ftw, manual 6 speed ftw, rear looksl ike it could be on a honda meh, but it's okay, nose is okay. Plastic trim around the edges of the car should have an in-finish option, All in, yeah I like this car. They should just call it Impreza though, it's like BMW suddenly calling the 2 door M3 something different because someone ate too much bratwurst.

  434. I've had cars with reverse cams before, I didn't even notice 😂 I just use the mirrors and rear window. It'd be great if my ford had one because it makes hooking up trailers easier. Also, 8000 rpm engines will be back once hydrogen finally sets off. And yeah the s tart-stop systems are killer not just for turbo engines if you ask me. That can't be right for batteries, alternators and starter motors / flywheels

  443. What I remember most about these is how thirsty for fuel they were. 😂 This is definitely a looker though, not quite as good as an old 60's GT40 in some aspects, and just a tiny tad better than some of them in others.

  445. So I just went to the ferrari site, and if I had a cool few million and walked into a dealer, the car I'd probably go away with is the Portofino. It looks the best and doesn't have the new interior yet where everything is this swipe controll or touch buttons. Too bad it doesn't have a v12 but it's got more than enough grunt. Design wise the 296 is also a step back in the good direction of the mid engine sportscar, but it has the modern interior that's just dreadful.

  447. Dogs and mirrors are definitely a thing. I remember one of my pups walking past the lifesize mirror, she LITERALLY WALKED BACKWARDS to growl at the mirror, realized what she was doing, and walked on as if there was nothing to see. 😂

  448. I remember one of the few things we improved post build about our track bmw was the shift linkage. They'd cut one up and welded it together with a few spot welds.... when you're on the track you don't hold back so the spot welds tore. :) It's been properly welded now, it can probably pull the entire car.

  449. at least you don't have to look at the nose while you're in it, and if you're nice to the other road users they'll mostly see the rear. I REALLY don't like that nose 😂 Ferrari v12's sound tho 🎶 Honestly, if you have the money, to hell with the twin turbo v8 (probably from the 488?) and get the v12. NA > Turbo. Oh I know why people didn't buy this. Have you checked the nose? 🤣

  454. I work as an IT support person and yeah, I expect anyone my age or younger to at least be able to get somewhere with a computer..... but I expected WAAAAY too much. Like, I'm in my mid 30's but we have a group of technologically challenged people that ended up all in the same team and the amount of people under 30 in that team is over 60% of the team. Then again, they are also the kind of people who know exactly what information you need to help them, but then do not give you half the intel and complain to management that IT is taking so long.

  458. My issue with this car is... the rear looks amazing, it's got the double tail lights on each side that I love on a ferrari, the nice wide and agressive stance. Just the nose of the thing..... yeah no. Ever since the 612 the big GT noses have been meh.
