  1. the abundance of life debate seems to change day by day and just yesterday i watched brian cox talking to NGT saying that we might be the only intelligent life in our galaxy, that the average might only be one intelligent life form per galaxy, given the constraints, listen to a few of sean carroll's recent podcasts too cos they are about how tricky it is to get to human-like life. life might well be abundant, there might be simple life in our solar system, in fact it's more than likely, but life like ours? the other thing to bear in mind is that it might be easier to modify humans than to terraform planets, mars is pretty inhospitable, even if you pumped an atmosphere it would get stripped away again - so we have already sent robots, why not make humans robots? those alien civilisations out there might already be combined with AI and living in a form that we just don't have any way of contacting.....apr 2022 by the way.
