i've been a graphic artist all my life, also i've worked in computer animation since the 80's and lately i've taken up sculpture. i dream in black and white, but i can label something as coloured if it's relevant. i have trouble picturing things in my mind, one way i get to sleep is to try to imagine three cubes next to each other, i find it very hard, but if i am walking i can "imagine" the whole map of london to help navigate, like i'm using google maps. i have a dialogue going on all the time too, i see it as rehearsing possiblilities, one example is my girlfriend who is schziophrenic, and it is easy to trigger her psychotic episodes, so i'm constantly vetting conversations to avoid certain things. i polled friends and work colleagues and most of them said they have imaginary conversations too.
don't get me started on empathy, if i'm watching skateboarding videos and someone lands on their testicles, i get electric shocks through my body, i have to turn away, not because of fear but it physically hurts to watch. but, i can watch (some not all) gore and not be moved at all.
i'm phantastic!
