  2. my understanding is that because the average age of japanese is getting older that young people are not available for work and that is why japan is "importing" people, they need a younger workforce. discrimination and racism are pointless, the world is constantly changing and although it's understandable to want to hold on to tradition, you have to remember your traditions replaced someone else's and in turn they complained about the change you brought. we get this all the time in the UK about immigration, but people seem to forget we have been "invaded" countless times, from the romans and vikings to the french and now americans - lol.
