  2.  @GalactusOG  funnily enough, no it doesn't. what happens is prayer works at the same rate as chance, 50-50, studies have been done, and in one study, done by a religious group, people WHO KNEW they were being prayed for GOT WORSE. ask yourself what is prayer meant to do and what mechanism is there to it? prayer CAN'T work even if there were a god to work it.

  5. jesus didn't write anything, so it's not possible to know what "jesus teachings" actually were, he could have been the town drunk. in fact a theory that is gaining ground is that paul took advantage of jesus death to start christianity for his own reasons, jesus life just fit all the predictions.

  6. the consensus seems to change weekly but there's little to be gained from saying jesus wasn't an actual person, what most people probably don't know though is that according to some - paulogia - who has a counter-apologetics channel - seems to think there were 13 people called jesus in the historical record of the time, and sean mcdowell, a christian apologist who did his PhD on the martyrs said in a role play that there were 33 people called jesus at that time too, so, arguing the toss is a waste of breath. what people like pinecreek doug like to point out is that there are NO eyewitnesses to the risen jesus, paul is the ONLY gospel where he states his name and that he saw the live jesus, and then only an apparition. NONE of the other gospels state who they are, luke doesn't even have the word "luke" in it, quite apart from the fact that they have english names cause NO ONE knows who actually wrote those gospels. or why. and my own three-penneth is to be "an eyewitness to the resurrection" you would have to be right next to jesus when he got up and went for coffee. there are no eyewitnesses "to the resurrection", christianity is based on one man having a hallucination of a dead man he never met.

  10. there is plenty of evidence that someone called jesus existed, however vague, but really it's not worth the effort of argument, the important issues are the existence of god - no one has demonstrated any god so far, and people don't come back from the dead, so jesus or no jesus - who cares, waste of time.

  14. i couldn't be arsed to read all that but i'm hard atheist and i can't see any reason to deny some bloke called jesus was an actual person and an actual preacher of some kind, he's been dead for a long time and there is no god to be the son of, that's the main point.

  15. i don't get why people think hell will be bad. if satan rejected god and i reject god, even if i'm not a satanist me and him are buddies surely? satan would enjoy tormenting christians sure, who wouldn't, but why torment me, his faithful servant, he'll reward me surely? i think hell is going to be a cross between disneyland (for the nice sinners) and the playboy mansion (for the perverts like myself), why would it be the least uncomfortable?

  18. what man? what research? jesus wrote nothing, nothing at all, and no one wrote anything about jesus until he was dead a while, so how can you claim to know "jesus was a good man" he could have been the town drunk for all you know. jesus life story is made up from dozens of people's imagination.
