  2. 30:00 i've just let fate take me wherever it feels like. i have done things to help it along, like i moved from my home town to london, i changed my "personality" when i went to uni, but all i knew when i left school at 16 in 1970 was i would like to do art of some sort. so i did manual work, carrying concrete around, loading rubber, unloading fridges, until i found myself in london, jobless and homeless. what really made the difference was accepting finding a job was a full time job in itself, and i still have my notebooks filled with addresses of flats and phone numbers of jobs now, and i just plodded away and bingo, the first job i got was sticking correction in science journals - paste up. since then i've been to five art schools, got my degree as a mature student, got head hunted into computer graphics in the early 80's and generally lived a blessed life doing what i love, and now since my ex wife made us move for schools every four years, the profit from house sales meant i can stay at home and play all day. i wouldn't know how to plan any of that. the flipper table of life has just whacked me into the jackpot alley. and to add i've always loved derren's shows, it's a shame we can't make a clear distinction between what the body and mind are capable of and separate the placebo effect from the faith healers, my parents were spiritualist, but neither were very fanatical, in fact i think my dad was actually atheist and my mum just thought that jesus was a nice bloke and we ought to be nice too, and all going to spiritualist church did for me was set me up for a life in film effects, i thought they were crazies. anyway, i enjoy derren's shows, i'm envious of his art, i hope he continues to thrive.
