  1. i've posed this question a number of times, but why is squaring things so common? why does squaring work?? why isn't it 2 and a bit times instead of 2 x 2 (if you see what i mean) the whole universe would be in trouble if squaring was really squaring plus or minus a bit, surely? and just my flight of fancy, but pi is the registration number of the universe, each universe gets a different value for pi, that's how you know where you are, and there is a universe where pi is 3.0 :)
