1:07:00 i tend to agree, part one of my life was pretty mixed, tending toward not good, part two of my life i landed on my feet at every turn, part three of my life, now, is directly attributable to having made one ill-informed choice, at present i'm stuck in hell, all because i neglected to read the fine print in a document - my karma. the "traditional" view of karma is like religion, people think there is an adjudicator in the sky dealing out rewards and punishments. so i agree Dr K's version of karma makes sense, but really it's determinism by another name.
1:17:00 i went into therapy voluntarily to try to change some of my characteristics, and what i found was i was told "i had to make a commitment" but within weeks my therapist would quit to go to another job, lol. but the last guy kept harping on about "how did i feel about him leaving" until it actually made me quite angry, but then i realised that if i lost my temper and say slugged him his reaction would be, "right, now we're getting somewhere, let's talk about this", and what i mean is i realised that here was soemone who isn't judging me, but actually interested in why i behaved the way i used to. so, yes, if you can say to your therapist "i hate your guts" and they have a reasonable reaction to that, maybe they know their stuff.

1:42:00 my favourite psychology book since i read it in the 70's has to be "games people play", DrK and destiny talked about transactional relationships, and similar to what DrK is saying eric berne poses that we carry with us "parent" "adult" and "child" states, that work along similar lines to what DrK is saying here, parent gives the orders, child like to create, adult processes information and acts upon it.
i don't do drugs anymore, seevere paraonia is no fun. i'd love for you to talk to sean carroll about hallucinogens.
