i have no idea what motivated bottas, he is a great driver, but he seemed to spend half the year "oh well lewis is going to win anyway" and the other half "oh well, i get paid anyway" and not doing anywhere near as much work as perez. he should've been sacked mid season is my take.

interesting take on the whole thing. i think from here on max needs red bull to make him a sign to stick on his steering wheel "lewis is not going to give ground anymore" and maybe "if you push it you'll end up in the gravel" those sausage kerbs are dangerous though. a different kind of hinderance needs to be used on chicanes.

"it took so long to decide" i think is the critical point. he chnaged his mind too, this is not acceptable, as someone said elsewhere, in a sport where a 1mm discrepancy in wing can get you penalised, changing the rulings just for entertainment purposes is really unacceptable. i hope lewis makes sure from racr one next year that everyone is behind him. every lap, every race. it might look like a case of rethinking the rules, but as far as mercedes are concerned it means MILLIONS to them, i'm sure they won't take this lying down, emotionally i think toto really wanted lewis to win fair and square and any other time they would've taken it on the chin and let it go to the next race, but this is business, winning the championship is about money - that will make a difference to how they deal with this. interesing that masi let ALL cars through when it suited, and just five when it suited...

i think lewis was really pissed at losing the cham/ship last year, i think he's going to make his mark every single race this year, and be clear winner very early - unless the car suits russell, or another team. lewis really wanted that record i think - and well deserved. but good luck to him, russell and even the other teams, i wouldnve been happy for max to win if him and christian hadn't been so childish mid season.

it looked very much like a fair result, lanso held the line was all, i've only seen it a couple of times, but it looked like perez should've backed off if he didn't want to go for the gravel. we see him do the same later in the race, but this time it was clear he moved to "encourage" the other guy off the track. i was begining to think perez had calmed down since the days of jenson button, but it seems he drives with his temper still, not his brain. i think gravel traps (generally) a much better idea than run off, run off might make the sport expensive, by ruining cars, but if you go off into the gravel, it's not an experience you'll want to do again.

i know bottas is popular, and even lewis has sang his praises, but i would've sacked him and replaced him with russell mid season, he's done very little to get in the way of red bull, except maybe once or twice. i think lewis would've won clearly this year if bottas had done as good a job as perz, although perez wasn't as effective as he could have been either.

i imagine it's not practical or that it poses even worse problems, but one of the animations had flat road sections joined to make the curve, what went wrong with that direction? it would solve a lot of ground effect probs if the road sections were flat, although going from one to the next might be tricky...

@F1ll1nTh3Blanks i hate to agree but i think you might have a point, lewis has other goals in his sights now - but i do think he wants another champ/ship, unless life gets really hard he'll stick it out until he gets number 8.

okay - one minute in. lewis is fantastic, i love lewis. but, people get old. russell has what it takes, so i hope lewis can get in one more champ/ship before he retires, but russell has shown himself. i think he is, along with lewis, more mature in his thought process than verstappen and mercedesa are going to win again this year, and i think last year left lewis pumped - he is NOT going to be walked all over again, he'll be world champ by race four. lol. good luck to them both, they both epitomise GB racing.

is walking down the track legal? i thought you had to stay off the track while a race was on. anyone else notice max didn't check on lewis, he did nothing to make sure lewis was okay? lewis didn't leave enough room, well, max didn't decide to cut the corner either, he could've aborted the move and gone more left himself. max is a really great driver, maybe lewis equal (maybe not) i was feeling quite happy for this force majeur to win the championship until silverstone, then both max and christian were so pissy about that event it just put max back to the days when he was all over the place, i'm back to hoping lewis smashes more of schumachers records. i wish lewis and button had a season or two together. i think a point for fastest pit stop is in order, it's a team game after all.

i've not liked perez since his barnies with button, but he drove well as defence for his team mate - credit where it's due.

both drivers have proved themselves, i think lewis has been setting the example of how to be sportsmanlike and that's why i've been anti max since silverstone, but both drivers are worthy of the title, but this wasn't the way to get the title or end the season, max was basically given a ten second boost. either unlap all the cars, or none, and don't change your mind during the safety car, no unlapping, then unlapping, then only 4 cars unlapping - it's shambles and i hope toto sues.

@Driver61 i think there ought to be a point for fastest pit stop, who do i talk to? lol. but seriously it's a team game, the team ought to have the opportunity for a point too.

lets have a few more gravel traps eh, they don't have to be deep, just enough that you are slowed considerably if you run wide.
