i worked on simulations for the ESA soho project when it launched, i also did a ton of animations around the oort cloud comets, various earth bound telescopes and (this was the late 80's) even visuals of colonising asteroids, not to mention i did a number of animations for the 1999/2000 BBC series "the planets". i've actually lost count of the number of times i've built a model of the solar system - so i've had to do a lot of visualisation. this is how i would imagine a small "moon" starting it's very early life, little pieces of rock just pulled together, not enough gravity at this point to crush anything, just enough gravity to squash the rocks compacting.
