i'll have to hunt around a bit but it would be interesting to hear brian greene and roger penrose discussing their ideas on "the end of time"
35:10 paradox, anything moving at the speed of light experiences zero time. it takes 8 minutes for a photon to travel from the sun to earth, but the photon experienced no time at all, in fact to the photon it's everywhere in the universe at once, no matter how far it travels, how long it takes, to the photon no time has passed at all.
57:45 success is weird, i've had lots of success during my life, none of it planned, i just wandered like an idiot stumbling from one good outcome to the next. about success though, not only have i done well, but in my small world i'm quite famous - but nobody will have heard of me. social media has redifined success as needing the whole world to know your name, ain't gonna happen. and the depressing part is now you have evidence that you are in fact the LEAST successful person on the planet.

1:30:00 i watched a talk with brian greene where he was suggesting life long journeys at light or near light speed, that the distances are that great that having families taking entire lifetimes to arrive at a destinantion would make some kind of sense. the interesting part about that is if they are travelling at near light speed, if they are gone for a hundred years ship time, thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of earth years will have elapsed, their original civilisation may no longer exist. it begs the question would it be more practical to have "moon size" ships that entire civilisations travel around on, but the point that occurred to me is if you have people moving around the universe for hundreds of "ship years" then civilisations are going to be way out of sync with each other, that is if there were two earths in the same orbit sending out two lots of light speed craft, one for a hundred years ship time, the other for a hundred and fifty years ship time, the two earths will likely have died out and those two ships will be thousands of earth years out of sync with each other when they reach their destinations. ship one may have colonised and died out by the time ship two sets up shop.
