  780. my first official graphics job was pasting the new, modern (!) southern gas logo onto all their stationery, (around 1972) that led to seven years in porn, that led to a degree in graphic design, which led to a further career in computer graphics, first with digital pictures, then with CFX, and further on freelance for everyone, MPC, 4:2:2, smoke and mirrors, lost in space, framestore / cfc, digital arts, electronic arts - well too many to list - i did about 20 fx shots on the BBC planets (1999) series too....i have a channel. i have to say i did a lot of bbc basic animation for my degree show (kingston poly 1984) all inspired by the voyager animations. come to think of it i was tape/punch card librarian at a computer bureau (FENI data services, part of sunlight laundries) who used UNIVAC 9400 machines, and the guys there did some ascii nudes, so i was involved in computer graphics as far back as 1974. although i also cleaned the coffee machine and mowed the lawn. at CFX we used to shoot onto film from a 4000 line vector display (i forget the make) engineered by ian chisholm and software by craig zerouni, we would shoot a pass of one colour onto a mitchell camera, rewind the film, shoot a pass of a second colour and so on, and use matte passes to simulate hidden line removal. sitting in a darkened room for hours shooting one frame at a time, several times for multi colour- and if ONE FRAME was wrong.....i think the first ad i did using that technique was the vauxhall astra (the first one) launch. i have a ton of odd stills on my facebook photo albums pages "a short history of computer graphics" that are a variety of really ancient work i saved from the skip, film, video some storyboards. PS i have some 3d animations of the EVA pod and discovery ship from 2001 on my channel (a long way back) and a robbie the robot i did in 3D.

  961.  @jeffadventures1  my in-laws are japanese and i'm afraid i have to agree with you, my only excuse is that the people of japan weren't thrilled about hirohito starting all this mess, it's usually ONE power hungry megalomaniac at the helm dragging entire countries behind, but - i can't make excuses for the atrocities. i did try to talk to my in laws about the war and how they felt about it, but my ex wife didn't really like my "interrogation" and my japanese and their english wasn't enough to make any sensible conclusions, they have an american airbase literally next door, and they don't seem to mind the american presence. (cut and paste from above): my in laws are japanese and they have blackhawks and f-15's circling their house 24/7, and they look back at the war philosophically. i've been to hiroshima, and after me and my son watched the film i asked him if he recalled ringing the peace bell, which he didn't, he was three at the time, hiroshima is a pleasant and thriving city, and the japanese face disasters every couple of months, tsunamis and earthquakes and eruptions, they roll up their sleeves, get things rebuilt, and go back to work. the bomb was truly horrific and did horrific things, but the japanese had the trams taking people to work in hiroshima THREE DAYS after the city was flattened. my in-laws english isn't that good and my japanese is minimal, and my ex wife didn't really want to interrogate her family on my behalf, but i gather my in laws at least aren't all that resentful of the americans, and i think most japanese are okay with their presence. they blame hirohito.

1719. at present it's not AI at all, it's a smart tool. we'll know it's AI when you don't have to prompt it anymore, you come into work on monday and it'll be waiting to ask you what you think of the work it did that you could have done this weekend. at the moment you have to ask it, when it does stuff on it's own you need to watch out. i left school at 16 in 1970 and my second job was tape librarian to a UNIVAC 9400. after that i worked for southern gas updating their stationary on an IBM golfball. i did my graphics degree and got into BBC basic and then got head-hunted by digital pictures, moving on to cfx associates, then freelanced for EA, smoke and mirrors, moving pictures, oasis tv, - anyone who is anyone. was animation going to die when computer graphics "took over"? wasn't it predicted that art would die when the camera was invented? if AI doesn't do a skynet and wipe us out, it's basically just another tool in the designers arsenal, i can now do things i had to either botch myself or farm out, and in fact i found some images inspiring (i'm working on a sculpture for bookends, a man sitting on a chair, the chair would be hard to sculpt and it never occurred to me - but it occurred to AI - to have him sit on a pile of books. when youytube started i thought it would e a source of work for me, titles and in program graphics was my bread and butter, but that was spoiled by the fact EVERYONE got graphics kit and budgets plummeted. AI is just another bend in the river of creativity, as long as it doesn't bump us off in the process.

1925. no, it makes you dimwitted and ignorant. trump is racist there is no question, i suggest you read project 2025 and that you can prove beyond doubt that you are "pure american" cos he wants to deport people by the millions, including journalists who are white. this election isn't red vs blue, for people who say they hate communism you're VOTING for it. heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data. Violating the First Amendment by using federal law enforcement to target journalists and protestors. Abusing executive power to interfere in our elections by criminalizing the voting process and damaging fair representation. Censoring academic discussions about race, gender, and systemic oppression, in violation of the First Amendment, and promising to cut federal funding for schools with curricula that touch on these subjects. Weaponizing federal law to require states and private actors to discriminate against transgender people by threatening to sue schools that protect the rights of trans students or telling hospitals that they would lose their Medicaid funding if they provide gender-affirming medical care to trans adolescents. Severely limiting abortion access nationwide by reversing the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a drug used in medication abortion, and reviving a 19th century law, the Comstock Act, to ban any abortion medications, equipment, or materials from being sent through the U.S. Postal Service. there are 900 pages of this.

2089. 8:00 JP was a great actor, his use of the word and "and, and, and, and..." once upon a time i thought JP was great, he was really hard work for atheists, unlike most theists in debate his mental gymnastics were just as convoluted, but the cover ups were way, way better - he raised the standard that atheists needed to win debates, his encyclopedic mind was (almost) a match for hitchens, and on the other side, theists had to up their game to keep up with the new training atheists had got from him. today though JP has been listening too long to the voices in his own head, the echo chamber seems to have gone the way of the kent hovinds instead of the stephen frys. JP is being punished for being daft. 15:00 in my teens i was much like my father, who was essentially a victorian, and although i wasn't as bad as i could have been i voluntarily went into psychotherapy to try to train my brain to be "better", this was the 70's, the therapy went on for about five years, one-to-one and group and i finally quit when i went to university to get my degree (i had attended three art schools prior to this as well), and although i've had to stop cos i'm nearly 70 and suddenly my health has taken a downturn, i was carinf for someone schizophrenic and autistic until recently, i have a carers qualification. it burns me up that i have spent my whole life trying to be a "better" person and then the theists come along, claim i am a sinner, give god all the credit and basically blame all the ills of the world on an apple. there are better people than me, god doesn't deserve any credit, unless he has a really good explanation - his representatives have fk all though but excuses.

2578. if this is a way to sneak religion into science, sorry, it won't cut it. digital is just as satisfying as film, i use both. this is the "world's best buggy whip" argument. "let's go into the darkroom and see what develops" old university joke. "some day my prints will come" another. i was at uni 1982-1984 when i did photography, all black and white, i then went on to work in computer animation, i've done a top of the pops titles and loads of BBC work - the planets series (2000) for instance. when i started out the second company i worked for was CFX, in soho, london, UK, we used to shoot from a cathode ray screen with 4000 line reesolution, onto to film, we used coloured gels in front of a mitchell camera to make colour from the basically black and white screen, and you had to shoot one pass of say red, rewind the film, change the colour gel, say green, shoot the film again, and repeat for all colours, then you'd send it to the lab and find out ONE FRAME was wrong and have to do it all again. we would load rolls of 300ft or 400 ft film inside black bags, doing it by feel. if you wanted to make it look like one thing passed in front of another (this was all wire frame graphics) you would have to shoot a matte film, like a black square that would block out some of the wire frame to look like it was solid, so you'd load two or even three rolls of film on top of each other and go through the process as above, called bi-pak, one frame at a time, click, advance, click, advance, and hope it was right. night vision - cool, but we used red or yellow light at uni.... i've probably thrown them all out but once upon a time i had BOXES of test strips for colour tests, literally dozens of albums full of 35mm film with different colours clients could use to decide how their "wire frame graphics" would look. i worked with wireframe from about 1982 till i guess 2000 when full colour, 3D rendering became common. bernard lodge, who did wotk on blade runner, used to take the wire frame and do hand animation over the top of it, making wire frame look 3D and cartoony. you can see my crappy photography on instagram, and if you scroll back far enough (i exceed at everything) computer graphics too - @harrynicholas1 i have a youtube channel of guitar and computer graphics i've done, both my own and some pro. lol, in your summation - i miss cave painting, that was real hands on... :) i'll tell you why you love film, it's beacuse someone else is processing it, if, like me, you've screwed up tons of film for whatever reason, you say to yourself, okay, enough. i'm 67, i'm a fan of old stuff, but i really like new stuff too. it's a case of picking what's appropriate, but if you had to process all your own film, you'd soon get over it.

2685. my ex wife is japanese and although i started out looking into jainism last night, cos i know fk all about it and RR mentioned it in the video i was watching, after seven hours i got back to RR video on islam (the jordan peterson as kermit the frog video on the diversion was hilarious) but i really got sidetracked by shinto / buddhism. shinto has no god, it's based on the spirits of ancestors, a respect for other humans and nature, you can pray for whatever you want or need, and it is full of rituals revolving around cleansing and respecting your dead ancestors. no threats of hell no demands for obediance no dictates on the does and don'ts of life just mutual respect. when i was in japan the first time it was over new year, and even as a "hard atheist" i really found going to the shrine, following the rituals (wash your hands and mouth, give a few coins to the shrine, pray for a new car, give your regards to those who have passed on), really easy to get into, and not the least uncomfortable, and the japanese who has been staring at me all day took no notice of me in the temple. the islamic and christian mythogies are losing ground because they are basically facist. shinto works, and the japanese are marvellous people (although they do complain that individuality is sacrificed for the sake of society) without any threats of hell or promises of heaven, you find peace if you are peaceful. in the west we rely too much on bullying people into "seeing our pont of view" anyway, look up peterson and kermit, it's hilarious.

2766. lol, if you can't tell if it's AI or human then it's probably mentally ill, AI or not. it seems to me that consciousness is purely the ability to simulate and navigate the world and not a lot else, it's self awareness and the degrees of self awareness that separates us from most creatures, but i think that can be the illusion that a complex simulation will provide. 17:50 i'm glad someone has pointed this out. we are basically still cavemen, our biology is set up for fight or flight still, toxic situations which were meant to be dealt with over the sapce of hours or minutes, we endure for days weeks or months, stress reaction - and the chemistry of sexual desires - are almost unecessary in the modern world. fighting over a parking space will be the biggest problem to overcome, if you're going to walk off to your meeting and leave the car to find a parking space, given how people behave... 33:35 i think people get the rarity of life the wrong way round. i think that life pops up everywhere all the time, that it's common as muck, the problem though is it gets killed off more than it survives. take thermal vents, there are still hard at work today, and could possibly be spewing out new forms of life, but, it all gets killed off by what's already here. i think if circumstances were favourable there would be life all over the universe, everywhere we went, but the vast, vast majority of it doesn't take hold. i firmly believe we have to get off this planet asap, ideally turn it into a nature preserve, but we can't put all our eggs in one basket.

2784. i'll be 70 this year, i've worked in graphics of all kinds since i left school in 1970. i got caught up in computer graphics at uni, i got my degree as a mature student in 1984 and my first job after leaving uni was working for digital pictures in london, but my direct boss was more interested in pop videos and commercials than CGI so i spent a year or two doing all manner of graphics for music videos. i moved to CFX, another cutting edge computer graphics house and there i learned computer animation from the basics, and in those first 5 years out of uni my cv included a top of the pops titles, teletubbies titles, dozens of commercials, dozens of corporate videos, architectural, automotive and space exploration videos. i went freelance around 1990 and since then i've clocked up hundreds more videos and even games and four feature films. to me youtube was just a place to promote my freelance work and to store any animation i was tinkering with. my impression of youtube when it appeared was that here was another source of work for me, everyone would want titles and everyone would want graphics, but what happened in fact was everyone got photoshop and everyone got 3ds MAX or blender, or some other pirate 3D software, and animation i we charged at CFX and DP £20,000 for suddenly people wanted done for £50. so i just use youtube to save my animation work, i do some sculpture these days too, and i've been uploading my music since about 2013 too. youtube is just a storage facility for me, despite being on since about 2006 i still have less than 200 subs, i never promote my channel (until recently that is, since youtube want to force me to watch their crummy ads - they've used my content for free all this time so it would be nice to get some revenue back) to me youtube has just been a vanity project and a way to store my work so i can show it at will.

2984. 1:00:00 the word fractal made sense of an expanding universe for me, at last. i'm a big fan of roger penrose idea of aeons, at the end of the universe, he reckons, only photons exist, and as they travel at the spped of light time and distance have no meaning, we have a singularity, but this also fits with what cox is saying, if everything in the universe is travelling at light speed (or greater) time has ceased to exist, and however big the universe might appear, everything in it can be everywhere "at once" - another singularity, anothe big bang.. . 1:57:00 i grew up in the 60's, we were all about consumerism, buy buy buy. it's not only confusing now because we are "conserving" but it's an economic paradox, if we conserve where does industry get it's revenue from, if we consume, where does the planet get it's resources from. the concept of a tribe who own nothing is fascinating, a big problem with the whole world is globalisation, i keep saying i would prefer 1 million blokes making 1 million variations on a burger than a mcdonalds logo everywhere i go, but the individual is being squashed because the chains put up the money to make malls - the high street is just being cloned, but profit is going to corporation, whereas it should be going to individuals and kept local. . 2:33:00 voting by phone would mean being able to vote for the small stuff as well, again local issues that are normally decided by committee behind closed doors could be open to the public, my feeling is that campaign funds should be divvied up equally between candidates to stop money buying representatives, but government, by the people, by phone might be a good way of getting rid of politicians. . while i'm at it, my other favourite suggestion is to lose the house of lords and replace it with a house of scientists, it was cox that gave me that idea a year or two ago, we need experts running our countries, not power hungry, money hungry leeches. the idea of voting was, originally, to elect the best person for the job, usually someone who didn't even want the job, they had to be elected, nowadays it's down to campaign funding, which is a useless way of getting what you need.

3049.  @shirleyashanti3031  well of course not, simple ideas like being a part of something bigger escapes a lot of people. maybe i'm misunderstanding your comment, but just a top tip, with a name like ashanti i hope you can prove you are "pure american" when trump starts his deportation campaign, cos hsi threats of revenge apply to white people as well as anyone with a foreign sounding surname. are you blue eyed and blond haired, a true aryan? heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data.

3192. my ex wife is japanese and although i started out looking into jainism last night, cos i know fk all about it and RR mentioned it in the video i was watching, after seven hours i got back to RR video on islam (the jordan peterson as kermit the frog video on the diversion was hilarious) but i really got sidetracked by shinto / buddhism. shinto has no god, it's based on the spirits of ancestors, a respect for other humans and nature, you can pray for whatever you want or need, and it is full of rituals revolving around cleansing and respecting your dead ancestors. no threats of hell no demands for obediance no dictates on the does and don'ts of life just mutual respect. when i was in japan the first time it was over new year, and even as a "hard atheist" i really found going to the shrine, following the rituals (wash your hands and mouth, give a few coins to the shrine, pray for a new car, give your regards to those who have passed on), really easy to get into, and not the least uncomfortable, and the japanese who has been staring at me all day took no notice of me in the temple. the islamic and christian mythogies are losing ground because they are basically facist. shinto works, and the japanese are marvellous people (although they do complain that individuality is sacrificed for the sake of society) without any threats of hell or promises of heaven, you find peace if you are peaceful. in the west we rely too much on bullying people into "seeing our pont of view" anyway, look up peterson and kermit, it's hilarious.

3890. with a name like chong i'd not be shouting too loud. i don't get you folks, you ALL think it's "someone else will get deported" heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education not just banned books but banned WORDS - diversity, gender, abortion. Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data.

4011. interesting comments, seems everyone hates everyone and it's "their fault" whoever they are. i'm a jolly brit born i 1954 so of course i have the actual facts to draw on (he said sarcasticly). my inlaws are japanese, i've only been there twice nearly twenty years ago now, but i thought my folks took things pretty well considering they have blackhawks and f16's flying around their house 24/7. the japanese are inherently racist, sorry to say my ex wife even thought white people are "smelly", but their culture is behind the times in that respect, or maybe they just say what they think instead of hiding feelings like we now do since wokeness and political correctness became the thing to do. they are a sexist mysoginst people, but take a look at twitter any day of the week and you can see we all still are. my take on the bombs, the japanese people didn't have a say in going to war, as i understand things the majority of joe-chan public didn't want a war, ti was all the emperors idea, but when your boss says fight, well civilians have never stopped a war have they. i didn't get chance to go into depth with my in-laws about how they felt about the war, the bombs or the coccupation as language was a barrier, and my ex wife didn't really want to be bothered, but i guess the japanese people get the same propagandist chewing gum we in the west do, just from their perspective. i've been to hiroshima, and like all defeated nations japan seems to have come off a lot better than it's oppressors, it's a marvellous city and the memorial building and museum are the only signs of the horrors of nukes. so all you people cursing the yanks, or cursing the japs, or the russkies or the nazis - everyone was as bad as everyone else in WWII - no one is innocent. and i bet you'll do it again. the only good thing about being a brit in WWII - we didn't start it.

4209. Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes. - oscar wilde. interesting, this thing of boundaries, i've never thought about telling other people what they can or can't do involving me, if i like the attention, okay, if i don't, i deal with that in whatever way i think is appropriate, but i would never have thought of me in relation to boundaries of me. do what you want, it you that's going to feel the consequences, good or bad. maybe i'm just tolerant, maybe i just like attention. i can see boundaries as being important to women, men are asses, but what do you do, hand over a list of does and don'ts? i'm an old man, so i've become immune to rejection, but my technique is to say up front "i have designs on your body" and then we both know where we're coming from, if anything it's the friendzone (mine) that's tricky "i don't really have designs on your body, i just want to pick your brain" is a greyer area. lol. 18:30 okay, boundaries suddenly become paramount. "i'll break your arm" is probably a good way to keep his arm off your waist, men are asses. even if you're out to seduce someone, at least be subtle about it. my critiscism though would be when you get the third text you text back "look i feel really uncomfortable that your motives are questionable, i won't be in your lab again chum" would be the way i'd go. nip it in the bud. (edit) the very few men that have tried to make a pass at me, i tell them politely they aren't going to get anywhere, so don't waste the time. "much as i like you, i have no qualms about breaking a limb, so let's just get on with what we were doing before." 22:00 crikey. i've had a smattering of one night stands, but i've had six "girlfriends" one who became my wife, now ex wife, and although i'm not sure which would like to see me again i am still on reasonable terms with my ex-wife (married 20 years, one son now 22) and on good terms with the girlfriend i had before i got married (someone i've known for thirty years) and from my point of view i'd be more than happy to see any of them again, i feel i have been incredibly lucky in love (although i got dumped every time - lol) but when i hear the nightmare stories that people, both men and women go through, i wonder what the human race is all about. i'm selfish, i want sex, i want - stuff - but there are ways get to achieve your ambitions, and ways that just ruin other people, it's just not necessary to destroy other people to get what you want. and statistically you're going to get rejected more than accepted, so get over it. win-win is just as easy, and more satisfying for all.

4316. @phillipclearman859 i beg your pardon mate but all the founding fathers were on the run from religion. at BEST they were deists, and they certainly weren't christian, the WHOLE POINT of the constitution was to welcome people from all over the world and allow them to worship their own god in their own way without persecution - you are totally ignorant - have you not read the first amendment? "thou shalt worship whoever you want" and if you wnt to promote the satanic temple this is the best way to do it because wherever christ goes in education, satan is right there too - every time you promote god you promote every other religion too, so if you want god in schools you'll get hindus, muslims, shinto, satanists too - is that what you want? two things - the constitution, the very first law of the land says god takes second place to people, if you don't like that either get it changed or move. second, EVERYWHERE the church goes in schools the satanic temple is right behind, so if you want to promote the satanic temple, keep pushing your god on folks cos the satanists are much more likeable, don't have to make threats to get people signing up, and THEIR rules are a lot more reasonable and human than gods, and while christianity is shrinking (pew polls and gallup) islam is growing, so beware of what you wish for, cos islam will be right behind the satanic temple too that's why you have the constitution you banana. I One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason. II The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. III One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone. IV The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. V Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs. VI People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused. VII Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

4334. 50:00 what is wrong with kids? you like her, she doesn't like you as much, find someone else to get a crush on, then you can be friends with her and maybe, when you aren't so disturbed by not wanting to lose her, you'll relax and she'll start to see something attractive about you. nothing screws with relationships more than "it's vital i do the right thing". there are how many billion chicks on the planet? you gotta be able to find six that you like. i was anxious when i was a teenager and it took quite a while to get through that, what i cite as the main way i learned to deal with social anxiety was when i did my graphics degree, we had to stand in front of the class and defend our work, it was always a horrible experience, but the lesson everyone ought to draw from any situation is that it's really important to FORGET, in defending my work my nerves would take the backseat because i would FORGET i was nervous and get absorbed in defending the why's and wherefore's of my work, and to rebutt or agree. but whether this is trite or a life lesson my favourite phrase at the moment is "the opposite of depression isn't happiness, the opposite of depression is occupation", the point being, as i said to my son recent;y, "i'd like to be unhappy, but, i never do have the time" woody allen gives a great insight in an interview he did where he was asked what drives him, he said all we do is fill our minds with things we think are important in an effort to forget that everything will one day turn to dust. he says he gets so wrapped up in telling one actress how to do her lines with another, there is no time to think about the heat death of the universe. don't sweat the small stuff.

4970. my girlfriend is schizophrenic, and the first video, when he wakes up and there is a lot of noise in his head, i don't think that's how it works, i'm at the 5:20 mark, so maybe there will be clarification, but the way i see it, i talk to myself, out loud and in my head, and i hold imaginary conversations with people, i think most people do something similar, as a way to play out scenarios and "predict" the future, what will happen at the job interview, or whatever, most of my imaginary conversations are with her - i want to say just the right thing in a way that won't be misinterpreted, i "try things out" in my head. but (i imagine) with schizophrenia it's hard to remember the voices are imaginary, and the scenarios that get plaayed out in the head become "real", and the scenarios become more extravagent, i've been accused several times of trying to posion my girlfriend for instance, i asked her how she liked a new cup she'd bought, and immediately she asked if i had tampered with it in some way. it's like my thoughts are imaginary, but relate to reality fairly closely, but her thoughts get wound up to the 11 mark, and every detail of her day is exaggerated, until she has to explode but then has no clear agent to explode at - even that is a jumble in her head. 7:05 yes, i imagine it's not the tv talking direct to you, but your (her) interpretation of what the content is "it will be cloudy today" means you'll feel gloomy, not want to go out, you're trapped indoors, everyone wants you locked away, you hate everyone. with phone calls, one day we were talking and she was triggered by something on the tv and she just started word salad for about an hour, the phone rang, it was a girlfriend of hers, they had a normal conversation "how are the kids, what have you been up to" then she put down the phone and went straight back into word salad, for another two hours at least. i have no idea how that works.

5073. the bible: The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother. 3 They became prostitutes in Egypt, engaging in prostitution from their youth. In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed. 4 The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem. 5 “Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians—warriors 6 clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all of them handsome young men, and mounted horsemen. 7 She gave herself as a prostitute to all the elite of the Assyrians and defiled herself with all the idols of everyone she lusted after. 8 She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom and poured out their lust on her. 9 “Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, the Assyrians, for whom she lusted. 10 They stripped her naked, took away her sons and daughters and killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women, and punishment was inflicted on her. 11 “Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister. 12 She too lusted after the Assyrians—governors and commanders, warriors in full dress, mounted horsemen, all handsome young men. 13 I saw that she too defiled herself; both of them went the same way. 14 “But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans[a] portrayed in red, 15 with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea.[b] 16 As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea. 17 Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust. 18 When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her naked body, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister. 19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.[c] they let kids get hold of this tripe

5126. heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data. Postal Service. there are 900 pages of this. i almost want trump to win so you will see first hand what a massive mistake you make. if trump gets in he is the heritage foundation puppet and ALL your rights and freedoms will be removed, project 2025 says it in clear terms - they will monitor everything you do and deport ANYONE, regardless of colour, if they dissent, you are LITERALLY electing another putin, the US will be another china i hope you can prove that you are "pure american" (whatever that is?) don;t say i didn't tell you.

5211. you'll probably get deported too, and if you don't i bet your experiences of racism increases. you voted your family deported. heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education not just banned books but banned WORDS - diversity, gender, abortion. Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data.

5221. my pet theory goes like this. it's going to be hard to terraform a planet, mars has no magnetic field for one thing, you generate atmosphere, it blows away. and we need to colonise now, not in a hundred years, and, we can't even terraform earth. what we already have, and what we are already doing, is modifying humans, prosthetics, robotics, DNA and genetic engineering, AI - robots and cyborgs. it will be easier to make humans fit the environment (hmm, does that sound like evolution?) rather than fiddling with the environment. which brings me to part two: speed of light. it may be that we can't get around space travel, other than manipulating space itself, if you're moving near the speed of light you're going to hit something, besides, i think it will be easier (relatively of course) to bend space - if aliens have done this then they have no further need of "regular" space, or planets even, i think advanced alien races are immaterial. we will never "see" or "hear" them. what do you think? leave a comment below. oops, sorry, thought i was at home there for a moment. ------------------------------ in addition, and i say this often, we have no problem handing over the planet to our children, we expect to pass away and our kids take over, and very few people have a problem with that, but, as long as robots don't actively start removing us (!), why not hand over to robots? surely they will just be the next step in human evolution, i mean it's hard to define what "life" is in the first place, does it have to be totally biological? the fly in the ointment is that we can expect at some stage to have very long lives, if not immortality, if david sinclair gets his "ten years younger" pill going, then that would be a step to demonstrating immortality is possible, then we might compete with AI and robots... anyway, robots in factories meant i could do more art, and now AI is doing my art i can go back to the factory.....

5464. i tell my friends that i have been spoiled, for the last ten years i've had good luck, but only enough good luck to maintain my status quo, when i lived at home i was a temp worker, i had numerous and various jobs, some dead end, some that contributed to my CV, but when i moved to london i could do no wrong, i landed my first job, which i got made redundant from within a month or so, but that led to a design job that lasted seven years, in which time i went to three art schools, when i got made redundant from the design job i got a place at university, mainly due to encouragement from my first girlfriend, but while i was studying design at uni i got swallowed up by the computer graphics industry (1984) and that was mainly down to being recommended by one of the countries leading designers. i worked for most of the top london computer graphics houses, got sent abroad on various projects, made enough money for my (ex)wife and i to get on the property ladder that meant i could reitire early. i like to boast that between 1974 and 2005 i got every job i was interviewed for. i out that down to a) knowing people in the industry b) being charming c) being lucky - i have very few illusions about my skills, in some ways i'm a genius (my producer would come to me with a problem that got my head scratching, but i always found a way to make things work) and on the other hand i'm a talented bullshitter, i can discuss stuff and make out i know what i'm talking about when i know full well i don't have a clue. when i hit 55 was the first time i applied for a post and was turned down, so i tell myself it's an age thing, but i rarely discount luck as a factor, and blaming @bad luck@ is comforting, isn't it. my thanks to all the women in my life, they have been the main inspiration and driving force behind everything i do - i'm a show off.

5474. 19:00 no professional heroine tournaments. rofl. 1:07:00 i tend to agree, part one of my life was pretty mixed, tending toward not good, part two of my life i landed on my feet at every turn, part three of my life, now, is directly attributable to having made one ill-informed choice, at present i'm stuck in hell, all because i neglected to read the fine print in a document - my karma. the "traditional" view of karma is like religion, people think there is an adjudicator in the sky dealing out rewards and punishments. so i agree Dr K's version of karma makes sense, but really it's determinism by another name. 1:17:00 i went into therapy voluntarily to try to change some of my characteristics, and what i found was i was told "i had to make a commitment" but within weeks my therapist would quit to go to another job, lol. but the last guy kept harping on about "how did i feel about him leaving" until it actually made me quite angry, but then i realised that if i lost my temper and say slugged him his reaction would be, "right, now we're getting somewhere, let's talk about this", and what i mean is i realised that here was soemone who isn't judging me, but actually interested in why i behaved the way i used to. so, yes, if you can say to your therapist "i hate your guts" and they have a reasonable reaction to that, maybe they know their stuff. 1:23:12 "waddyou think" lol, typical psychiatrist answer. (i get it though, honest). 1:42:00 my favourite psychology book since i read it in the 70's has to be "games people play", DrK and destiny talked about transactional relationships, and similar to what DrK is saying eric berne poses that we carry with us "parent" "adult" and "child" states, that work along similar lines to what DrK is saying here, parent gives the orders, child like to create, adult processes information and acts upon it. i don't do drugs anymore, seevere paraonia is no fun. i'd love for you to talk to sean carroll about hallucinogens.

5577. my first car was a 1973 BMW 2002, which i loved, but i spent more time behind the AA van than under my own power. a friend of mine had an "arthur daley" series III JX and forced me to drive it, and i was immediately sold on it and traded the beamer for one of my own. it eventually fell apart, more mushrooms growing on the backseat than mechanical failure and i bought an XJ 300 style, i forget why they went but it was replaced by another. that one i wrote off (a rear tyre blew up and it did a 360 spin, took out six other cars and landed on top of someone's front garen wall - i have a letter from the police stating it wasn't my fault) and i then bought an XJR 300 series, which was like driving in a video game, i didn't know you could do burnouts in an automatic. i sold that when i noticed the front springs were rusted almost to nothing, and then i got my first x-type. all of them were trouble free, except for electrical gremlins (for some reason jags hate summertime and the doors either won't open or won't close, which was another reason for getting rid of the XJR, my ex wife thought she was going to fall out of the car at every corner - she bought a s-series though) but my argument for jags is that they are generally looked after, as long as the tyres and battery are new (ish) and the service history has no blank spaces, you get a £70,000 car for £1500, covers the cost of petrol. and, electric everything, people seem to think they are special, and not only are they easy to drive but quiet and pokey. seven minutes in and it looks like a nice car, although i'd go for the estate version these days, i hear they drive better in snowy conditions which after abandoning my XJ's in the snow more than once, i think might be an important feature. and manual - no way, i'm lazy.

5599. i think clapton would say hendrix too, but i think clapton is more popular and widely known by non guitar and non music-types. which gives me an opportunity i never miss, i went to kingston poly in the 80's and our illustration lecturer tells of his predecessor at kingston school of art saying "you'll never get anywhere until you put that guitar down, clapton". again zep is probably more influential, but in the background, whereas i bet more people have a floyd album than a zep, although if you have a zep album you probably have more zep albums than people with floyd albums have floyd albums. bowie has more range, jagger is good, but i'm sure bowie could do jagger, but jagger couldn't do bowie, bowie doesn't stand still. damn, i wanted something to listen to while i work, not something i have to comment on every five seconds. st pepper's has to be the more influential, it came out first, it had so many novel ideas for people, philosophy, art, music, instruments, lyrics, dark side of the moon is probably my favourite "play every track" album (i went to visit a friend when it first came out, i walked through the door to his place, he gave me a tab of acid, put headphones on me and put dark side on the turntable, it's the only way to listen to it) but sgt pepper's really changed everything, not just music. dark side came out of "pink floyd pink floyd" the album with the white cover. relics, that one, psychedelia, all of it. money for nothing and satisfaction have pretty much the same guitar sound. they are both underrated.

5955. the internet is the perfect place for confirmation bias. when i look something up i don't stop at the first available answer, if it's something i feel strongly about i'l branch off and look at as many versions as possible, not only looking at information from sources i trust (they can be cross referenced as reliable) but dipping into things i don't trust so much. i think the majority of fact checking that people do though is purely to confirm something they already believe, and one source, or two if they want to pretend they've @researched@ a subject is pure confirmation bias. i caught out neil de grasse tyson on his claim that a baseball sized earth would be perfectly smooth, much as i like NDT i couldn't see how something that casts shadows (of mountains) could be perfectly smooth, whatever size (pictures from space for instance still have shadows, but from space earth looks baseball sized) after two or three searches i found i was right - but even then, being a good skeptic - i wait for more information. 7:23 lies are easier to tell. i can make up crap about any crap, no research, no cross referencing, any idea i want. facts are hard though, and 50% of facts are going to be stuff we don't want to hear, lies are much easier to digest and back to confirmation bias, they don't need much effort. and anyone who lnows the millgram experiments will realise it's ever so easy for humans to do really appalling things with very little persuasion, tell big lies, appeal to the darkness in people, presto! you have murder and corruption.

6063. my pet theory goes like this. it's going to be hard to terraform a planet, mars has no magnetic field for one thing, you generate atmosphere, it blows away. and we need to colonise now, not in a hundred years, and, we can't even terraform earth. what we already have, and what we are already doing, is modifying humans, prosthetics, robotics, DNA and genetic engineering, AI - robots and cyborgs. it will be easier to make humans fit the environment (hmm, does that sound like evolution?) rather than fiddling with the environment. which brings me to part two: speed of light. it may be that we can't get around space travel, other than manipulating space itself, if you're moving near the speed of light you're going to hit something, besides, i think it will be easier (relatively of course) to bend space - if aliens have done this then they have no further need of "regular" space, or planets even, i think advanced alien races are immaterial. we will never "see" or "hear" them. what do you think? leave a comment below. oops, sorry, thought i was at home there for a moment.

6089. arthur c clarke said he thought the academy awards people must've thought they had used real apes, as the oscar for best costume and make up went to planet of the apes in 1968. HAL had been programmed to do his best to fulfil the mission, he saw the humans as interfering and that might wreck the mission, unless he'd been programmed to believe that human life had some sanctity above the mission (asimovs laws for instance) he would've let them live, but he would have to be TOLD that, he assumed, as he was "the mission itself" that humans were secondary, just there to fix the AE35 unit and were just as expendable. it begs the question would AI see humans as things they could "switch off" with no moral questions. . apparently the shots of discovery in space took hours to film, one frame at a time as to get the stars as pinpoints each frame took a long exposure, and, as i am an ardent admirer of the film, and i've built 3D computer models of the sets, i noticed in one scene where (pilot) is shadow boxing in the centrifuge the film has been flipped left to right, for an unknown reason. another bit of trivia, there is a piano opposite the breakfast table. . the only problem with AI is if they set out to eradicate humans in one generation. all the questions about AI taking over are a bit redundant really, unless you are planning to live forever - you aren't too worried about your children taking over, AI is much the same, if they have the same amount of intelligence as humans then they ARE human, just a new generation and a new species. the question that really needs addressing is, a machine can be scrapped, a person can't, when is a machine a person, topical what with the "all lives matter" frenzy at the moment.

6194.  @donsspecialty3961  two things - the constitution, the very first law of the land says god takes second place to people, if you don't like that either get it changed or move. second, EVERYWHERE the church goes in schools the satanic temple is right behind, so if you want to promote the satanic temple, keep pushing your god on folks cos the satanists are much more likeable, don't have to make threats to get people signing up, and THEIR rules are a lot more reasonable and human than gods, and while christianity is shrinking (pew polls and gallup) islam is growing, so beware of what you wish for, cos islam will be right behind the satanic temple too that's why you have the constitution you banana.

6279. who cares, no one has ever listened to anything god, jesus or the bible has said, in fact the god folks are the WORST, they hate on everyone, they dump their friends and family for god, they harbor abusers - christians are sick people. 2024: Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles settles sex abuse cases for $880 million 2007: cardinal Roger Mahony, leader of Los Angeles Catholics to pay $660 million settlement. 2019: Some 200,000 children, young people and vulnerable adults suffered abuse while in state and faith-based care in New Zealand over the last 70 years, a landmark investigation has found. It means almost one in three children in care from 1950 to 2019 suffered some form of abuse, including being subject to rape, electric shocks and forced labour, according to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry. i guess god isn't paying attention i guess morality isn't written on priests hearts i guess god makes no difference at all to the world. admitting to being catholic is like admitting to being part of organized crime, has the pope stopped apologising for all the abuse cases that are bankrupting god? i have to say it's great that the pope has finally pointed out god's error about homosexuality and okayed gay marriage, nice to see religion finally catching up with real morality, and good of the religists to admit god was wrong. maybe in a few years it'll l be so watered down religion will be invisible. what did they do with the space left by limbo being abolished? ballroom? casino?

6312. the bible: The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.[c] they give this crap to kids.

6567. crikey, you're only putting this out now, ending loan forgiveness means slavery. heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education not just banned books but banned WORDS - diversity, gender, abortion. Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data.

6719. and just a quick reminder that the first amendment conflicts with the first commandment "thou shalt worship whoever you want" so technically you can't be christian AND american. i first heard this story from the friendly atheist podcast. according to pew polls, gallup and the PRRI atheists and the "nones" are now for the first time equal in numbers, the "nones" have been growing while christianity is shrinking, and each time pew takes a new poll the shrinking has become more rapid - the reason - no one wants to be part of the hate, the bigotry, the abuse and the grift that the church always was, but is now being uncovered. christians, islam, project 2025, christian nationalism, sharia law - they are INDISTINGUISHABLE from each other - people here in the comments saying "i'm a christian and this offends me" sorry but god and trump are no different from one another, both dictators, both will deport you with no trial or representation, both hate on the same folks, both have MAGA values. if you wanted your religion to thrive you should have kept it to yourself and not tried to interfere with human and civil rights - roe / wade was the turning point in the decline of christianity - watch it fade away. anyone know who bastet was? this is exactly what christianity and islam are all about, it's been atheists and the seculars that have given people rights and stopped the religious from burning people, witch hunts and slavery, not religion, and in fact considering god is the ultimate dictator who will deport you to hell just for disagreeing with him, no trial, no representation and he hates gays, trans, abortion - god and maga are no different are they. when the ten commandments were put on display it was a waste of time because the poster contained the constitution and the bill of rights, but the type was so small it was unreadable, so the commandments had to use the same size illegible type too. religion is a joke.

6931. heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data. Postal Service. there are 900 pages of this. for people who hate communism for some reason you are VOTING it in.

7011.  @the_right_moment  two things - the constitution, the very first law of the land says god takes second place to people, if you don't like that either get it changed or move. second, EVERYWHERE the church goes in schools the satanic temple is right behind, so if you want to promote the satanic temple, keep pushing your god on folks cos the satanists are much more likeable, don't have to make threats to get people signing up, and THEIR rules are a lot more reasonable and human than gods, and while christianity is shrinking (pew polls and gallup) islam is growing, so beware of what you wish for, cos islam will be right behind the satanic temple too that's why you have the constitution you banana.

7192. 30:00 i've just let fate take me wherever it feels like. i have done things to help it along, like i moved from my home town to london, i changed my "personality" when i went to uni, but all i knew when i left school at 16 in 1970 was i would like to do art of some sort. so i did manual work, carrying concrete around, loading rubber, unloading fridges, until i found myself in london, jobless and homeless. what really made the difference was accepting finding a job was a full time job in itself, and i still have my notebooks filled with addresses of flats and phone numbers of jobs now, and i just plodded away and bingo, the first job i got was sticking correction in science journals - paste up. since then i've been to five art schools, got my degree as a mature student, got head hunted into computer graphics in the early 80's and generally lived a blessed life doing what i love, and now since my ex wife made us move for schools every four years, the profit from house sales meant i can stay at home and play all day. i wouldn't know how to plan any of that. the flipper table of life has just whacked me into the jackpot alley. and to add i've always loved derren's shows, it's a shame we can't make a clear distinction between what the body and mind are capable of and separate the placebo effect from the faith healers, my parents were spiritualist, but neither were very fanatical, in fact i think my dad was actually atheist and my mum just thought that jesus was a nice bloke and we ought to be nice too, and all going to spiritualist church did for me was set me up for a life in film effects, i thought they were crazies. anyway, i enjoy derren's shows, i'm envious of his art, i hope he continues to thrive.

7332. (cut and paste from comments) if this is a way to sneak religion into science, sorry, it won't cut it. digital is just as satisfying as film, i use both. this is the "world's best buggy whip" argument.

7449.  @T00Nyce17  not wantig to put people in internment camps for one thing, i take it you haven't read project 2025? where you lose all your rights and freedoms? the germany 1939 thing isn't just making stuff up, trump wants you living in the same regime as his mate putin, or like china heritage foundation project 2025: Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system. no more loan forgiveness = slavery eliminate the dept of education Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data. Postal Service. there are 900 pages of this. i hope you can prove you are "pure american" - do you not listen to what maga have been saying? they don't hide anything. backing trump is the dumbest thing.
