  1. Back in the computer dark ages, the companies like Tandy, Apple, Commodore and even IBM, would actually HIRE people to write the manuals! People to translate "engineer and computer speak" to basic human English! At some point this stopped, mostly as a cost cutting measure as the "bean counters" a powerful group within Management, figured computers had been around long enough that "most people" knew enough not to need them. They were wrong! But like so many others in the Management elite, would never admit it. Thus it was left to the Engineers and Computer Programmers to produce documentation - something most were and still are ill equipped to do. And it's not just in the Computer Industry! Try reading documentation for a medical device!
