  1. While Trump was in office he had no fear of the Ukraine joining NATO, as Trump was working to weaken that alliance. Now that Trump has no power, except in his own mind and that of his cringing followers, Putin feels he must act. I'm sure he is surprised by the resistance to his take over, thinking his massive army would have over run them in 24 hours or less, it is just as doubtful he expected the rest of the world to do anything other than sit back and watch with platitudes of "We Pray for Ukraine", in this he is proving to be wrong.
