  1. No need to, he's a believer. The difference between the scientific and the fundamentalistic approch. The latter does not need any proof but is equally true... But without accepting and doing science, how do you one know something is real? That is what makes these people pathetic. By denying science they destroyed their own method for determining the truth but do not even realize it and keep on living in a reality based on non-existing "facts". The Van Allen radiation belts can be passed by astronauts wearing sufficient protection and with a limited time of exposure. Not because I say so, but because scientific research led to this conclusion. Now they need scientific research to prove otherwise. It's the only way to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, they never will.
