  1. A strange thing about that is that I had a box of C64 floppies near a big speaker for years and they still work, while I had many disks that became irrecoverable at random. Never noticed the problem with hard drives. Aren't they shielded by their case? Magnets and CRT tubes were a problem too, btw.
