  1. Varney is a far better vampire than Dracula, although the book version could do with a good edit (longer than Lord of the Rings). Varney has the Jekyll and Hyde psycho-drama that means you end up rooting for him, although he ends up with the Groundhog Day scenario time and time again. A penny dreadful with personality. A Vampire who is as much victim as the victims he targets.
