  1. If you want the common sense approach to any historical period always look at what the working classes were doing. Then add on the social constructs of the wealthy for 'special occasions'. However, I still think elastic is one of the world's greatest 'inventions'. 'Prepared for all weathers' - you're sounding more British by the day.
