@ArenBybee During WW2 Canada was a manufacture of ships, fighter planes, bombers, tanks and weapons which were shipped to the UK. Uranium from Canada was used in the atomic bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In 1959 Prime Minister Diefenbaker cancelled the famous Avro Arrow, destroying them all, models and plans (to prevent Russia from the getting them) then let go of all employees, who were hired by the US space program, US manufacturing of fighter jets and Concorde of the UK. Sadly Canada cut military expenditures and manufacturing when Prime Minister Diefenbaker agreed to stop making major armaments due to pressure from the US, as the US wanted to have the bulk of military spending and responsibility of all of the military manufacturing to a NATO standard. Diefenbaker cut Canada's military from 5% of GDP to about 2% of GDP over six years 1957-1964. Canada had and has the natural resource to build armaments, I believe there was some of kind of agreement to supply the resources needed to the US but Canada would get a discount . The voting public at the time were veterans from WW2 and WW1 who return from war saying never again. Public back then failed to acknowledge that a good defence is a good deterrent.

@davidlloyd1526 What about the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) is a United Kingdom-led Northern European multi-national military partnership designed for rapid response and expeditionary operations. It consists of the United Kingdom, the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden), the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), and the Netherlands. Plus Iceland has joined.

@geofftestpilot9076 On Media Touch on YouTube I've seen a lot of Americans standing up for Canada, wanting to move to Canada and wanting their state to be part of Canada. A movement in California to secede from the US.

@kasahadragon9499 Didn't Trump borrow money from the Russian Mafia (ex KGB) in the US, when they fled to the US after fall of the Soviet Union?

@kasahadragon9499 Only 47 isn't as smart as Putin, as Putin was trained by the KGB.

I'm 75 and Canadian I too remember a lot more adults volunteering than they do now, but back when I was kid most mothers didn't work and volunteered to help in the community. I was brought up if I wanted a good community or if something needed improvement than I volunteered to help plus I brought my children to do the same. My son and his wife (who has MS) both volunteer as managers, score keepers etc in their children's activities and both grandchildren have volunteered to help younger children learning to play hockey.

@Somethingaboutthat I watched on YouTube CBC Archives: Betting On Free Trade 1988 | CBC. 1988 debate between Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Liberal leader John Turner go toe-to-toe on the free trade issue during the 1988 federal election. Turner said to Mulroney “Canada was building itself East, West and North infrastructure that resisted the pressure of the United States on Canada. You've reversed that with a signature going North to South, when economic levers go the political independence will follow.” In my opinion is very more relevant today. I voted for Mulroney and regretted it, as Mulroney cancelled the program of licensing labs to make generic brands of patented drugs, plus Mulroney privatized Connaught labs, what was left of it when Canada needed vaccines for Covid was Sanofi labs of France. Canada had to rely on India and the US for vaccines. Thankfully the Liberals made an agreement with Sanofi labs to build a lab in Canada to produce vaccines in Canada in 2024-25.

@andrewkempa5328 The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) was the world's fourth largest air force at the end of World War II. The RCAF reached this peak in late 1944 with over 215,000 personnel. Plus Canada trained over 130,000 Allied pilots and aircrew through the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.

We shouldn't forget in WW1 and WW2 many Americans traveled up to Canada to sign up with the Canadian military as the US hadn't declared war on Germany while Canada was at war with Germany. Many American who did sign up with Canada had British, Scottish and European parents and grandparents.

@arturobianco848 My father-in-law and his brother were in the Canadian military that drove out the Germans, they went back in the 1970's for a celebration of "Liberation Day" . They both said the appreciation from the people made it worth what they had been thru. My father-in-law had also commented that in May 1945 how difficult it was to see the starving children of the Netherlands.

If Trump can happen in the US, all other countries that are democracy should take this a warning. Do research before you vote in elections. If you have politician or politicians who are promoting hate and turning your people against each other vote for the opposition.

@cidie1 I'd be concerned for Europe as doesn't the US have bases and nuclear weapons which the US controls in Europe?
