Many Americans traveled to Canada to sign up in Canada during WW1 and WW2 especially those who had British, Scottish and European (countries that Germany had invaded) parents or grandparents who had immigrated to the US as the US in both wars didn't declare war against Germany till 1917 when the war started in 1914 and 1941 when the war started in 1939.

I can't blame them for not enlisting after Trump's comments calling fallen soldiers as losers and suckers and that John McCain was not a war hero as he was captured. Yet Trump avoid the draft in 1968 for cadet bone spurs and four times to attend college. Which I find strange as my ex-husband his ailment was not accepted, despite he had limited use of both of his hands.

Today I seen a great interview on MeidasTouch with Retired General Ben Hodges who discusses Donald Trump’s cowardly and anti-American behavior and what’s at stake in Ukraine. I wish MeidasTouch would also interview Jake. I was surprised at some of the comments as many Americans didn't know the aid sent to Ukraine is not cash, it is weapons produced in the US therefore funds stay in the US.

It does appears as if the Republicans that you had supported or not the Republicans of the past or since Trump. Then I view Trump as Putin's proxy. Too bad the Republicans don't split into two political groups MAGA Republicans and Reagan Republicans.

@wacinton Total bilateral aid commitments to Ukraine as a percentage of donor gross domestic product (GDP) between January 24, 2022 and May 31, 2023, by country. Note some of the countries are not NATO members and some do not manufacture armaments. Estonia 1.6% ; Latvia 1.09% ; Lithuania 0.95% ; Poland 0.68% ; Slovakia 0.63% ; Denmark 0.51% ; Norway 0.47% ; Finland 0.44% ; Netherlands 0.44% ; UK 0.37% ; Czechia 0.36% ; United States 0.33%; Sweden 0.31% ; Bulgaria 0.31% ; Croatia 0.3% ; Canada 0.29% ; Germany 0.27% ; Austria 0.2% ; Japan 0.15% ; Portugal 0.14% ; Iceland 0.13% ; Luxembourg 0.12% ; Slovenia 0.11% ; Greece .09% ; Belgium .09% ; Italy .07% ; Spain .06% ; France .05% ; Switzerland .05% ; Romania .05% ; South Korea 0.4% ; Australia .03% ; Hungary .03% ; Ireland .02% ; Malta .01% ; Cyprus .01% ; New Zealand .01% ; Taiwan .01% ; Turkey .01%.

@Alister222222 I think there are many Americans, British, Australians and Canadians who are concerned about the number of the pro-Palestine/Hamas protests, considering the atrocities they committed on Oct 7th., therefore may vote for Trump due to what he has said about Muslims. The immigrants taking part in the UK, Australia and Canada protests are not from the US southern borders coming from South American and Mexico, they are refugees from previous wars in the Middle East such as Syria.

As a fellow Canadian I agree with you. Although I would add Canada needs to start the manufacturing of armaments as it did from 1939 to the 1950's as it had the natural resources to do so, Canada can't count on purchasing US weapons if Trump should be elected. When Trump was president treated Canada more like an adversary or enemy than an ally. By the end of WW2 Canada has the world's fourth largest air force and third largest navy and was manufacturing war ships, fighter planes, bombers, tanks and weapons. Sadly Canada started cutting military expenditures when Prime Minister Diefenbaker agreed to stop making major weapons due to pressure from the US as the US wanted to have the bulk of military spending and responsibility of all of the military manufacturing. Then Diefenbaker cut Canada's military spending from 5% of GDP to about 2% of GDP over six years 1957-1964. Since 1959, Canada buys pretty much all of its major military hardware from the USA. Such as the cancellation of the Avro Arrow in 1959.

Are they being supported and paid by Putin?

It is uplifting to hear a young person, a student wanting to help Ukraine, as a senior it gives me hope for the future.

I think you might mean Celsius.

All allies of the US need to restart manufacturing their own armaments and not rely on purchasing them from the US, as the US has to approve any sale of armaments to countries plus the resale of any armaments to a third country such as Ukraine, as was the case of the F16s made in the US and the Leopard tanks made in Germany. I wouldn't pass Trump blocking the sale or resale of armaments to Ukraine or to any NATO country attacked by Russia.

If a Trump a proxy for Putin can happen in the US, despite breaking the US Constitution, it can happen in other democracies in other countries.

Ukrainian has gone thru Soviet and Russian repression since 1921 or before that, search Holodomor Stalin's man made genocide by starvation of Ukrainians in the 1930's , the deportation of teachers, the ban of Ukraine culture and language, even is Ukraine defeated with the Russian atrocities there will be no love for Russia. Although if all the aid in weapons had arrived when promised instead of slowly, sporadically and late, I believe Ukraine would be much further ahead at driving Russia out and possibly driven Russia out of Ukraine.

I seen that interview on MeidasTouch and I thought it was a great interview too.

@justinwolf7490 Russia is run like a MAFIA with Putin as head.

I view Putin control and managing of Russia as Mafia like.

If Trump is elected I believe he will create more issues than there already are in the Middle East due to his dislike of Muslims but will back Russia in it's war with Ukraine and if Russia attacks NATO countries.

Ukraine is fighting for it's very existence, for the future of their children and for their Ukrainian children that have been abducted to Russia. Ukraine has documented proof of about 20,000 and an estimate of 307,000, recently Russian children's commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova has said that more than 700,000 Ukrainian children have been taken from Ukraine to Russia. They are given new names, dates of birth and location of birth and are up for adoption to Russian families are put into camps. International Criminal Court arrest warrants for Putin and Lvova-Belova for this as children are protected under the Geneva Convention. Russia is considering conscripting these children who are 17 years of age into the army to fight in Ukraine.

I have questioned if there is Russian funding provided to them or they believe if Ukraine falls and Russia then attacks a NATO country the US arms industry will make more profit selling arms to NATO countries.

Didn't Nikki Haley say she would pardon Trump if he was convicted, does that mean Trump could run again in four years?
1
Russia's population was already down before the invasion to what it had been, I believe due to economic down turn when the USSR was collapsing, couple couldn't afford to have children. Is likely why Putin authorized the abduction of Ukrainian children from Ukraine.

@hgv1947 Pearl Harbor in 1941 and on 9 11.

In all the occupied territories of Ukraine, plus if the Ukrainian civilians refused a Russian passport they were not allowed to purchase groceries, a driver's license or health care.

@murphy7801 While Trump was president Trump treated Canada more like an adversary or enemy than an ally. Canada is a member of NATO, I doubt Trump would provide aid to Canada if Russia, North Korea or China were to invade Canada. Considering in April 2021 Putin filed a submission to extend a claim to the Arctic, all the way into Canadian and Greenland (Denmark) continental shelf and economic zone, as part of Russia's continental shelf. In other words, a situation where they're claiming the entire Arctic Canadian and Danish continental shelf as part of the Russian continental shelf. In 2018 Beijing agreed it would cooperate with Russia on a new Arctic silk route, signing 20 bilateral documents and agreeing to invest in the region. As part of this Beijing will build several Chinese docks across Russia's north in ports. Putin wants control of the Arctic for the natural resources plus with the retreating ice control of the Arctic trade route passages.

@dalekcat The video will dissuade other Chinese from signing up with Russia to fight in Ukraine.
