Sadly the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 was a major factor in the worsening of the Great Depression. The tariff increased import duties, which reduced international trade and made it harder for the US to recover from the depression. The tariffs will likely create a recession not just in the US but in Canada and Mexico too.

British Columbia produces a variety of liquor, including whiskey, vodka, gin, and vermouth. BC is also known for its craft-brewed ciders and beers, and award-winning wines.

Canada doesn't grow oranges therefore we import them from Florida, but Canada also imports them from South Africa, Spain, Morocco, Mexico, and Egypt, so there are choices from other countries for Canadians, if you can't find Canadian.

I bought a Bosh dishwasher six or so years ago, I am still very happy with it.

@TheFeldhamster LNG Canada liquefaction and export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia which is on the Pacific coast is expected to begin operations in mid-2025. The facility is more than 95% complete and is on track to deliver its first cargoes by the middle of 2025. The Newfoundland and Labrador LNG project on the Atlantic coast is proposed to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe in 2029 or 2028. The project involves building a facility at Grassy Point in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland.

Anything that is labelled “Product of Canada” is 98% Canadian. A product labelled “MADE IN CANADA” is 51% Canadian content. For instance a bag of chips may be made with Canadian potatoes or tomato base products may be made with Canadian tomatoes. Canadians shouldn't boycott Canadian farmers.

@navypowertv As a life long resident of BC, I've always admired the French speaking of Quebec for protecting their culture and heritage and for not changing the words in our national anthem.

@andersjjensen I checked Heinz and Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise. Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise is made in Ontario. Their main ingredient is Canada! They source our free-run eggs from farms in Quebec and Ontario, and 100% of canola from farms in the Prairies. Heinz Ketchup closed plant in Ontario in 2014, but opened a plant in Mont Royal, Quebec in 2020, they employee Canadians and use tomatoes from Canada. If it cannot be produced at the Montreal factory due to “significant Canadian consumer demand,” the ketchup bottle may mention how it’s from the United States. Therefore read the label, reject bottles a product of USA and buy if it is product of Canada.

@ShadowSights I never voted for Trudeau, if Carney becomes the leader of the Liberals I will vote Liberal and Carney also said he would remove the Carbon tax. You do realize with the Carbon tax removed Canada will have to pay a carbon tax on everything we export? With Musk endorsing Pierre I will never vote for him besides I dislike they way he divides Canada just as Trump did to the US.

My husband and I are both retired Canadians who have supported Jake Broe's campaigns, plus the ones for NAFO 69th sniffing Brigade thru Anna from Ukraine and Artur Rehi. We too are wondering how much the tariffs are going to hit our pocket book.

@larsenh111 Canada has a Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) which includes Australia, Brunei, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam. Canada relies on fresh produce during our winter from the US and Mexico, with our seasons opposite I expect Canada to import fresh produce from Australia and New Zealand during the winter.

Trump threatened Tuesday to use "economic force" to make Canada the 51st state! He is basically threatening force to annex Canada. He is just as bad as Putin.

@andersjjensen In Canada they both have plants in Canada using Canadian workers and use products from Canadian farmers, I won't boycott Canadian farmers and workers.

Thank you. Trade Continuity Agreement (TCA) is a free trade agreement between Canada and the United Kingdom (UK)

This is also going to create a recession in Canada and Mexico too.
