My cousin's dad a Canadian, survived the landing on D Day, he was injured in September and die 5 or 6 days later from his injuries. My cousin was then left an orphan as her mother had died two years earlier, she was adopted by her mother's sister, who later married my uncle.

  2. Zelensky is the savior of the people. The veterans of WW2 are aware Zelensky is standing up for freedom. They fought for freedom, and are aware at the end of the war, many eastern European countries didn't have freedom as they were occupied by the Soviets. Despite Polish and Czechoslovak pilots served with the RAF defended Britain in the Battle of Britain, plus a Polish army under British command fighting Nazi Germany thru Europe. Those Poles if they returned home after the war were persecuted by the Soviets either executed or sent to gulags, as Stalin broke his word to Winston regarding Poland. Which is why many Poles never returned home, they settle in the UK, Canada and the Netherlands. I am friends with the son of one of Polish pilots, his father told him some of Polish pilots committed suicide as they fought to free Poland but Poland was not free, plus they were unable to return home to their families. My brother-in-law is Czechoslovakian, he escaped in the early 1970's. He said freedom to him is being able to choose your occupation (what you wanted to be), free speech, being able to go where you want plus your population is not being repressed by another (he grew up in a family of 11, living in a two bedroom apartment). Living in Canada he was afraid of joining a Union after his experience under Soviet control.

  4. As well as the Normandy civilians who witnessed their liberation, most now were children in 1944. When the D day celebrations are over, on the evening of the 6th the civilians release flowers in the sea of Normandy for those who fell in the sea before reaching the beaches.

  7. @philippage60 I read a report from UATV English: Kharkiv hasn't been shelled with S-300 for two days, since Ukraine was given permission to hit Russia. I dearly hope this report is true.

  8. The UK and Canada also had detachments in Germany for a length of time after the end of WW2.
