  1. @nhansen197 My Dad a Canadian signed up with the Canadian military in 1939, he was later trained in camp X. In 1942 he was posted to a camp in the US. My Mom lived close enough in Canada to make a trip down to the US to visit my dad. When she boarded a US bus that would take her to that US camp, there was a black man in a US military uniform at the back bus, so she took a seat beside him and asked him if he was going to that camp, if so would he let her know when to get off the bus as she was going to visit her husband there.

  2. @michaeltichonuk2176 Since Canada declared war against Germany when Britain did in both wars 1914 and again in 1939, the US declared war on Germany in 1917 and in Dec 1941. Due to this there were many Americans who traveled up to Canada to sign up with the Canadian military to fight against Germany.

Frederick Trump, left Germany to come to the United States to avoid a mandatory military duty of two years to Bavaria. Trump has never served served one day in the U.S. military, he received four educational deferments. After he graduated, he was classified 1A (fit and able to serve), then 1Y (temporary physical deferment), and finally 4F (permanent physical deferment), all due to (alleged) bone spurs in his feet. Fortunately, this condition does not affect his ability to play golf today.
