@stevelam8269 Bear in mind that this too is a synthetic narrative that may blind you to actual events. For instance, that is actively used to excuse actual offenses, as it became much easier to ignore complaints once you could label anyone voicing an opinion "radical far left" or "alt right" instead of a more obvious slur (the only practical difference between these labels is that it's supposed to describe a group the speaker claims to abhor). This happens in all sorts of differences of opinion; it's merely easier to amplify than ever before. I recommend CGP Grey's "this video will make you angry" for a primer. It's about the mental mechanisms, not any particular opinion.
