That's what the app is for. Particularly when the service was already a web page, like Discord, Youtube, Reddit etc.

Advertisers are primary offenders in many categories; data collection, actively lying to people, profiling people, and insane accusations. However, we must recognize these wrongs are perpetrated by other parties too, many of which hide behind others; e.g. the "data brokers" that are reselling contact information stolen via other collectors. Don't just block the ads, block the tracking, including in legislature. Remember, Google (who own Youtube here) never consider reductions in tracking. For Youtube, video streaming hasn't been their primary service for ages; it is bait.

Because the manufacturer hosts both greedy and voyeuristic sociopaths. One camp wants to have all the data, the other wants to sell it, and use it to figure out how much worse they can make the product without warranty costing too much. The shorter the product lifetime the more sales the market supports.

@mjc0961 "Smart" devices remove controls like that to "encourage" installing the spyware app. And then they claim that's both convenient and pretty.
