  1. I do deal with "cyber" security at times, and I just have to point out the classic adage: Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. In the case of Google, Facebook, etc, they'll happily get everyone because that's simply how they operate. Cast a wide enough net and you'll catch something of value to someone. It's known as "big data", and if it's not at CERN you can bet there's a lot of non-consensual personal information involved.
