Oh, it's worse. At a minimum they're collecting data on exactly who doesn't want their data collected. They're actively opposing you and the law.

Paranoia is unreasonable fear. It is not unreasonable to fear those who abandon reason and exploit others thinking "surely they wouldn't". Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

 @Mano-us7ct They don't sell "personal information", just personally identifiable information. Ancient weasel language. The "non-personal" information typically includes when you're home and where you live (it's just "metadata"...).

Those opt outs are almost never easy. They're usually hidden away and disguised. The vast majority of those "requests" come from people who absolutely refuse to consider the option of not exploiting you; often for crooks ("data brokers"), nearly as often for absolutely no gain. They have no sound reason to track you; they just consider you a target of opportunity. Don't we all love being target practice over any other relation?
