  1. Since they're using DASH to assemble the video, I guess what we'll have to do is fingerprint the video chunks, and skip those that don't belong. Imagine that, content ID for improved user experience.

  4.  @XxZeldaxXXxLinkxX  That is untrue. Your fingerprinting doesn't have to be anywhere near subtle; e.g. it could be a tolerant match of a blurhash. We're not talking about an exact integrity check, just "could this be the video we've seen". Youtube's main content is chunked dash, not continuously reencoded streams. Sure, they could waste tremendous power on reencoding everything on demand, but that's not the current status. The simplest thing to do is just collect a DHT of youtube video ID to dash contents, only holding dash lists that have the correct length. Live streams are more complex, though.

  5. What for? Like all privacy settings, it only downgrades your experience, doesn't reduce their tracking.
