@amypruss8391 No Amy, it really is more complicated than that. We wouldn't allow Mexico to create a military alliance with China and you know it. Look what we have done to Cuba...failed invasion, assassination attempt, physical blockade, 60 years of 'sanctions' and trying to enforce sanctions against third parties. Look into Nicaragua and El Salvador and Panama in the 1980s. And all that without many Americans living in any of those places, unlike the 20 percent of people in the Ukraine that identify as Russian. As for the political repression in Russia which is real, that is neither here nor there when it comes to the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. There are some people in jail, like Ilya Yashin, that I definitely would like to see released. There are some like Kara-Murza who are genuine traitors that I don't cry over. But the Ukraine is not much better. Remember the leader of the major opposition party in the Ukraine was under house arrest long ordered by Zelensky long before Russian invaded. There have been assassinations of Ukrainians that didn't buy into the Ukrainian ultra-nationalist malarky...look up Oles Buzina. There has even been at least one American citizen that was imprisoned by the Kiev regime and who subsequently died from maltreatment in Ukie prison...Gonzalo Lira. AFAIK no American citizen has died in this century in a Russian prison.
